Chapter 317

What was this place? Stunned, Lina Sweeney's mind slowly pieced together the previous scene. She sat up abruptly. She had drunk again, and heavily.

"Are you awake?" a voice called. Lina stiffened, turning her head. Hadwin Stephenson sat on a nearby sofa, his eyes fixed on her.

"I'm I'm awake," she stammered, scrambling out of bed. Her clothes were intact; nothing seemed to have happened. But just in case, she asked, "Did I do anything while I was drunk?"

"You did a lot of things. Which one do you want me to say?" Hadwin replied lazily.

Lina's jaw dropped. A lot of things? Her head swam, a stark contrast to her previous drunken episode, which she mostly remembered.

"What what did I do?" she asked cautiously, swallowing hard.

He blushed inexplicably. Lina stared at his flushed cheeks, suddenly noticing a resemblance to a man from her memory.

"Did I force myself on you again last night?" she blurted. His blush deepened; he turned away uncomfortably. Lina wanted to beat herself. Had she made the same mistake twice? Her intact clothing didn't necessarily mean nothing had happened.

"About that how did I 'force' myself on you?" she pressed, seeking concrete evidence, hoping for a chance at reconciliation.

"Enough!" Hadwin groaned, regaining his composure. He remembered bringing her to the room, her suddenly opening her eyes, wrapping her arms around his neck, and showering his face with kisses. She'd murmured things like, "You smell so good, so delicious" She was just as she had been before. He could still feel her breath on his face.

"Anyway, from this day on, we're dating, and you have to fall in love with me," he declared.

What?!

Lina stared, incredulous. Hadwin activated a recording app on his phone and played back their earlier conversation. Lina nearly stumbled when she heard herself saying yes.

She had to date him and fall in love with him. Could his revenge be to wait until she fell in love, then abandon her, making her experience the pain of rejection? The scenario felt familiar, a common trope in TV dramas.
