Chapter 327
Her arm was caught. Then, with a jerk, she fell into his embrace. She instinctively tried to pull away, but his hands tightened, holding her close.
"What a perfunctory good night, Sis!" he murmured against her ear.
Her body trembled. She felt his breath on her ear, his presence enveloping her.
"You… let go," she said, her face flushing.
"Tell me about your first day," he said.
"It's a delivery job. I deliver orders," she replied, her heart pounding. Her blood rushed.
"Is that so? Did you eat well?" His voice was close to her ear again.
"Yes, with the boss. She provides two meals," she said, her face burning. The strange sensation panicked her. She just wanted him to release her.
"Nervous?" he asked suddenly.
"No… no," she denied.
"Your face is red." He chuckled softly, then bent and kissed her cheek. "Blushing because of me?"
"I… no," she stammered, stiffening.
"You're lying," he whispered, the words sounding more like a caress.
She bit her lip, pushing against his chest, but her hands felt powerless. Was it fear? Fear of the consequences? Or something else?
Grace's mind was a blur.
Finally, he released her. He gently stroked her lips and smiled. "Good night, Sis."
Grace practically fled to her room, pressing her burning hands to her cheeks. She couldn't tell which was hotter, her face or her hands.
What was wrong with her? He often hugged her, but her reaction was completely different. Initially, she'd considered him family. After learning his true identity, she'd become frightened, trembling at his touch. But now? What was this?
Could it be… that she was falling in love with him?
No, that was unlikely!
She shook her head, trying to dismiss the thought. She and Jason would never work. Men like Jason were unpredictable. You could never guess his thoughts. He might seem in love now, but how long would that last?
