Chapter 328
In the wee hours, while Grace slept soundly, the door between the rooms creaked open. A tall figure entered. His usually cold, amorous eyes, now filled with affection, rested on the sleeping woman. He murmured, "Good night, Sis," his low, elegant voice tinged with both affection and an unspoken desperation.
The next day, at noon, Grace's workplace received a large orderโover thirty items. Normally, she delivered only seven or eight at a time. This order was the equivalent of a small restaurant's afternoon deliveries.
Kyla Corbyn quickly prepared the order, saying, "Thank you so much for delivering these."
"What about the other deliveries?" Grace asked, concerned about her other obligations.
"It's alright. My mother will cover the register," Kyla replied. The order represented a substantial profitโhundreds of dollars. However, when Grace saw the delivery addressโReed Groupโshe froze. The name and phone number on the order were unfamiliar; they weren't Jason's. A wave of relief washed over her; it must be a coincidence.
Once Kyla finished packing, Grace loaded the food onto her electric bike and headed for Reed Group headquarters. Thirty items were unwieldy, so she planned to make multiple trips after parking.
Unexpectedly, as she parked, a security guard approached. "Excuse me, are you Miss Cummins?"
Grace, startled, replied, "Yes."
"You can use this trolley," the guard offered, summoning two colleagues. They wheeled a stainless-steel trolley to her, efficiently loading the order. Grace realized they were prepared for her arrival.
"Thank you, but how did you know my name? Who told you to prepare this?" she asked.
"Terrence," the guard replied.
Terrence? Grace was skeptical. Was it Jason's secretary, Terrence, whom she'd met several times during her hospital visits? The thought made her bite her lip nervously.
As Grace nervously wheeled the trolley into Reed Group, another guard approached the first. "Captain, why did Terrence want us to watch for this delivery girl? What's her relationship to him? We get lots of deliveries," he said, citing a previous large order that hadn't warranted such attention.
"Don't pry into the higher-ups' business," the Captain replied. "Just remember, she's not your average delivery girl."
