Chapter 358
The women vying for Brian's attention were captivated by Evelyn's necklace. After hearing her comment, their envious gazes betrayed their jealousy. They eventually departed, disgruntled.
Evelyn smiled, satisfied with her success. After everyone left, she said softly, "Brian, will you blame me for wanting such an expensive necklace?" Affecting fragility, she bit her lip, attempting to appear pitiful and small. As an actress, she expertly manipulated her facial expressions to enhance this effect. "I just want to be more suitable for you," she continued. "I don't want to embarrass you when I stand beside you."
Brian lazily regarded her. Suitable? Did she believe jewelry and designer goods would make her a better match? If so, millions of women would qualify. Aside from her mouth, nothing about her reminded him of the little girl in his memory.
"You've already bought these things. Don't blame yourself," Brian said flatly. "As for whether you're embarrassing me I think you should work on that."
Evelyn was stunned. Was he implying she was embarrassing him now? Her confidence faltered.
"By the way, do you know what your sister is doing now?" Brian asked abruptly.
Evelyn was caught off guard. Only when she saw the impatience in his eyes did she reply, "She isn't she working at the Sanitation Service Center?"
Brian chuckled coldly. "It seems you don't care about your sister."
Evelyn trembled, sensing the coldness in his voice. "Um My sister doesn't like staying home. P-plus, she's with Jason now, so I guess her life isn't too bad." She emphasized "Jason," knowing Brian avoided women with partners.
Brian narrowed his eyes thoughtfully, but the conversation ended there.
As they left the club, Evelyn joined Brian in his car. He was slightly intoxicated, a fact she welcomed; it increased her chances. She had a plan. When they arrived at Brian's mansion, she quickly offered, "I'll help him inside. Let me take care of him."
The driver, aware of their relationship and Brian's current fondness for her, readily agreed. He couldn't afford to offend her.
Evelyn easily assisted Brian into the mansion. Though drunk, he wasn't incapacitated. She quickly got him to his bedroom.
"Brian, I'll change your clothes for you. Otherwise, you'll be uncomfortable after you fall asleep," she said, then began removing his clothes.
Brian's arm shielded his eyes; he seemed semi-conscious. As his shirt came off, Evelyn's heart pounded. She yearned for intimacy, but he showed no interest. They had never even kissed, leaving her anxious. If they became intimate and she conceived, she would marry into the Hart family for her child's sake.
