Chapter 418
Grace's face flushed. She bit her lip and said to Kyla Corbyn, "He's my boyfriend."
Kyla Corbyn's eyes widened. She'd sensed a connection between them earlier. Boyfriend?! Grace had a boyfriend? And he seemed enigmatic! Yes, enigmatic. Despite his harmless smile, Kyla's instincts screamed danger. There was something supercilious about him.
"Yes, my boyfriend," Grace replied.
Kyla Corbyn introduced herself, "Hello, I'm Kyla Corbyn, the owner of this restaurant."
"Hello, I'm Jason," Jason replied.
Kyla Corbyn was stunned. This Jason wasn't who she expected. Her head spun. Brian and Jason had arrived unexpectedly, both for Grace. Who was Grace? Was her resume truthful?
Brian approached, saying only to Jason, "I really don't want to confront you now." He then looked at Grace. "My company's film crew wronged you yesterday. I apologize. If you suffered any damage, please tell me, and I'll compensate you."
"There's no damage, thank you," Grace replied immediately.
"Is that so? I must go," Brian said, giving Jason a meaningful look before leaving. Grace hadn't captured his heart enough to warrant a conflict with Jason. He lowered his eyes, laughing at himself. He wouldn't oppose Jason for Grace, but Jason would for her. Clearly, Grace meant far more to Jason.
What he truly wanted was to find the little girl whose name he didn't even know. He touched the small silver bracelet on a chain under his shirt, against his chest, a talisman against his heartbeat. When would he find her? He had so much to tell her, to express how much he missed her.
Kyla Corbyn watched Jason. He sipped his coffee gracefully, even reading a German book, as if patiently waiting for Grace to finish work. He was Jason, the ruler of Emerald City.
