Chapter 420
โI seeโฆ I wonโt say anything to her,โ Kyla Corbyn hesitated, then said, โI only found out today that Grace is your girlfriend. I never wanted to use her. I only hired her because she had been to prison, just like me, and I empathized with her. I wanted to give her a chance.โ
The iciness in Jasonโs eyes dissipated slightly. โIโm not going to interfere in your affairs with Martin Weiss. I just want Grace to work safely at your restaurant. Call me anytime if anything happens to her.โ
He gave Kyla Corbyn his phone number. She hurriedly wrote it down. Few people in Emerald City had his number, but sheโd managed to obtain it under these circumstances.
However, Jason's statement that he wouldn't interfere in her affairs with Martin Weiss meant he wouldn't reveal her whereabouts to him. This relieved Kyla Corbyn.
Jason stayed for dinner at the restaurant with Grace. Later that day, her colleagues, unaware of Jasonโs identity (they called him โJayโ), joked that her boyfriend looked rich and that sheโd be a rich manโs wife. Grace only smiled. She wondered if they would still tease her if they knew he was Jason, or if they'd think they had no chance together.
On their way back, Jason said, โYour boss is a nice lady.โ
โYes, Kyla is nice,โ Grace replied. Then, remembering something, she added, โBy the way, Nelsonโs having his operation tomorrow. Kyla and her mother are going to the hospital. The restaurant will be closed for a few days, so I have some time off.โ
โDoes that mean I wonโt get my lunch delivery tomorrow?โ he asked, raising an eyebrow.
Grace was speechless. She had been bringing him lunch recently. โHow about I cook lunch tomorrow and bring it over?โ
This reminded her of their time at the rental house. Sheโd often work late and prepare food for him. Sheโd always been happy to see him enjoy her cooking, even if it was simple. Cooks loved seeing people appreciate their food.
โAll right,โ he replied, smiling. โYou said so yourself. Iโll wait for your lunch tomorrow.โ
Having given her word, Grace couldnโt back down. โDo you have anything you want to eat?โ she asked.
โIโm not a fussy eater. Iโll enjoy anything you make,โ he replied.
Not a fussy eaterโฆ So he doesnโt have any favorite dishes, Grace thought. โWell then, Iโll just cook something up tomorrow.โ
Back at Reed Residence, after washing up, Grace found Jason already sitting on the bed.
