Chapter 429

Frankly speaking, the real reason was Grace, wasn't it? Had Grace asked Jason for help? Was that why it was all possible?

Grace returned to the ward, a bag of pomegranates in hand.

"Alright. When Nelson wakes up, if the doctor allows it, he can eat these," she said, smiling broadly.

"Thank you, Grace," Kyla Corbyn said, her eyes slightly red.

"It's just pomegranates," Grace replied, assuming Kyla's red eyes stemmed from worry about Nelson. "Nelson's surgery was a success. He just needs to adjust to the cochlear implant. There's no more danger, so don't worry; everything will be fine."

"Yeah, everything will be fine," Kyla Corbyn nodded.

Before, she'd considered herself Grace's savior, having offered Grace work during a difficult time. But actually, Grace was her savior! Without Grace, Nelson wouldn't have received such treatment.

Nelson was still asleep when Grace and Jason left the ward. "I'll visit Nelson again," Grace said, waving goodbye to Kyla and Mrs. Corbyn. Shortly after, they reached the hospital parking lot.

Just as Grace was about to get into the car, Jason pulled her into his arms.

"Smile at me."

"What?" Grace asked, confused.

"Smile at me, like you did in the ward," Jason said. He rarely saw her bright smile; most were shy and timid. Her bright eyes in the ward had been captivating.

"Don't I usually smile at you?" Grace asked. "Why so suddenly?"

"Because you smiled beautifully, and I wanted to see it again," Jason replied softly, his voice coaxing, "Will you smile again, Sis?"

Grace felt her face flush. "There'sโ€ฆ a security camera here!" Their every move might be watched.

"So what?" Jason's eyes burned with passion and longing. "Smile again, Sis. I want to see your smile one more timeโ€ฆ"

Grace's heart pounded as she gazed at him, dazed. The desire in his eyes compelled her. A bright, magnificent smile bloomed on her faceโ€”stunning.

Leaving the hospital, Grace hadn't expected Jason to take her to the food street. They'd merely passed it, and she'd mentioned nostalgically how long it had been. Jason parked nearby and took her there.
