Chapter 435

Grace nearly choked. "Did hedirectly call the traffic police chief? I don't think many people in Emerald City can do that."

Jason continued driving after the light turned green. Grace, meanwhile, watched the car he'd mentioned in her rearview mirror. Although several cars separated them, a vehicle consistently followed.

Suddenly, a police car approached and forced the trailing car to the roadside. Two officers exited; Grace couldn't see beyond that in her mirror.

"That police car was sent by the chief?" Grace was shaken, realizing the extent of Jason's influence in Emerald City.

Under the officers' scrutiny, Judy Dixon reluctantly produced her identification and driver's license. Bewildered, she wondered why she'd been stopped. She hadn't broken any traffic laws. The car she'd been following was gone.

However, she'd had Jillian take a picture of it earlier. She planned to find the owner.

After the police left, Judy called her cousin for help identifying the car's owner. Her cousin was well-connected and easily investigated.

Within ten minutes, her cousin called urgently: "Judy, who are you investigating?"

"Why? What's wrong?" Judy asked. She'd only wanted to find the owner using the license plate.

Her cousin replied anxiously, "The car's owner is listed as 'top secret' in the system. Only certain officials can access that information. How did you offend someone like that?"

Judy was stunned. She stared in the direction the car had disappeared, her emotions churning. "Who is that man?!"

Back at the Reed Residence, Jason received a call. Afterward, he told Grace, "The car following us was the two women we met at the elevator."

"It was them? Why would they?" Grace trailed off, realizing it was because of Jason.

She recalled a female classmate who'd had a crush on a bus driver, riding his route until he finished work and then following him home. It was rather creepy.

"If they try that again, things won't end so easily," Jason said. He looked at Grace. "What are your thoughts on today's incident?"

She blinked, considering it before saying, "I thinkit's fairly normal for women to be interested in you." His looks certainly made him attractive.
