Yarrick wasn’t just good-looking; he was confident too.
“Tell me something. Do you know what a secretary does?”
“A secretary?” Yarrick had just been about to tell Christina about the projects he did throughout his university years, but she quickly changed the topic. “But sure, I know what secretaries do.”
“A secretary handles whatever the boss needs, books flights, schedules meetings,” he answered easily, without hesitation.
He had played the role of a temporary boyfriend for an executive’s secretary before. So, he had a pretty good idea… and was quick-witted too.
“Not bad. That’s actually a pretty solid answer,” Christina said, clearly impressed Yarrick was not only confident but quick-witted. “Are you interested in becoming a secretary?”
He hadn’t expected this at all. He had studied office administration and was planning to transfer to the administration department.
The president needs a secretary? I wonder who it would be. Was it a man or a woman? No one had given him any images in his mind. Still, it couldn’t hurt to get into the details.
“Are you the one looking for a secretary, Ms. Chapman?!”
Christina was quite amused. It wouldn’t be the man in front of her.
“Um, no, not me. The president of our company is looking for a young, capable young man to be her personal secretary!” Christina elaborated.
The president? A personal secretary? Yarrick was taken aback. He hadn’t applied for a secretary job. Besides, he was doing just fine in the IT department. Why would he…
Christina chuckled with hidden amusement. Yarrick was quite good-looking and muscular. From this conversation now, she noted he was very sharp and quick- witted too. She suspected that the president was probably a mature woman in her thirties.
“Like I said, Mr. Sutton, our president is looking for someone capable to assist her in her work. Her health isn’t fully back yet. Besides, our president is pretty popular, so having a capable assistant by her side would be for the best.”
“Oh…” Yarrick let out a small sigh of relief. So, that was what this was all about. Taking the job probably came with great pay, and he’d get to meet new people and things. He could learn a lot from being that close to the president.
“Our president was recently discharged from the hospital and is recovering at home. She needs someone young and energetic to assist her in handling work- related things. Are you interested?” Christina asked, her tone professional and persuasive.
“Alright, Ms. Chapman. I’d like to give this position a try,” Yarrick made his decision. This could be an incredible opportunity for growth.
“Excellent! Congratulations, Yarrick! You’ll be our president’s secretary from now on.”
“Thank you, Ms. Chapman.”
This opportunity had fallen right into his lap, and he wasn’t about to question his luck. He would treat the president’s secretary position with everything he had.
