Chapter 71
After returning to her room, Selina pondered collaborating with Brilliance to repay Trevon for his kindness over the past year. However, she hesitated about revealing her identity as Angel. She knew Trevon would eventually discover the truth, but she wanted to avoid exposing her secret to Theron. After careful consideration, Selina texted Andrew:
Selina: I'll speak with Mr. Brady in person, but I wish to determine the terms, timeline, and method. Reply with "1" if you agree; otherwise, ignore this message.
Meanwhile, Trevon returned to his room, settled onto the couch, and poured himself a glass of 1982 Lafite. As he relaxed, he reminisced about his time with Selina, a smile playing on his lips. The wine's sweetness filled his mouth, a delightful sensation. He was overjoyed.
At that moment, his phone rang. Seeing Andrew's name, Trevon answered impatiently, "Any news from Angel?"
Andrew relayed Selina's message.
Trevon exclaimed, "Okay, give her my private number. Time, place, method—whatever she wants. I agree to her terms, as long as she's willing to discuss our collaboration."
Selina subsequently received Trevon's number and proposed a conference call three days later at 3:00 p.m., stipulating that she would not reveal her identity. Trevon readily agreed. Their discussion proceeded smoothly, leaving Selina unfazed.
She touched her chin, murmuring, "It seems Trevon truly appreciates Angel."
Indeed, Selina's talent as a designer was undeniable. Her initial triumph had spurred Trevon's extensive search for Angel. Selina scheduled the call for three days hence, primarily because the outcome of Malcolm's lawsuit against Manuel would be finalized within two days. While she couldn't ruin Manuel entirely, the experience would serve as a harsh lesson for the Harvey family, a lesson Manuel, as a Harvey, would never forget. Selina intended to demonstrate that she was no longer the same vulnerable woman they once knew. In her past life, the Harveys had inflicted considerable hardship, and she felt no lingering obligation to them. This time, she would not tolerate their mistreatment.
The following day, Selina joined Trevon for breakfast.
Trevon sighed, "Honey, I thought you weren't joining me this morning. Yesterday's breakfast was tasteless without you. This one's only delicious when we share it." He placed a sausage on her plate.
Selina stared at the sausage, slightly speechless. Is this an illusion? she thought. The shape is odd.
She smiled, "Okay. I'll have breakfast with you unless something unexpected arises. You're always so sweet. Honey, try this sausage I've cut for you." She expertly sliced the sausage for Trevon. The sharp sound of the knife against the plate made Trevon's heart skip a beat. With a gentle smile, she offered him a piece.
Trevon obediently ate it, nodding in satisfaction. "Even more delicious when cut by you, honey. Try this," he offered in return.
"Sure, honey," Selina echoed, her bright eyes darkening slightly. They were both skilled actors, it seemed. Since Trevon was so affectionate, she would reciprocate!
Meanwhile, the maids were captivated, witnessing Trevon's unprecedented gentleness and affection toward a woman. He not only fed her but also accepted food from her, a sight that filled them with envy.
After breakfast, Selina saw Trevon to the door. Noticing his loosened tie, she adjusted it. His smile widened as she worked, and he whispered huskily, "Honey, you're the perfect wife."
Without looking up, Selina replied, "Honey, I do this because you like it. You look perfect now."
Trevon maintained a slight distance, inhaling her fragrance. "Honey, any plans today?" he asked.
Selina replied lightly, "I'm going to the gym later. Nora invited me out this afternoon."
"Okay…" Trevon mumbled, a hint of displeasure crossing his eyes. "Selina, tell me if she's wearing you out. She has many friends."
Selina reassured him, "Oh, that won't happen. I like Nora. Don't worry, I'll take care of it."
Trevon smiled, "Honey, I don't want her to monopolize your time."
"I don't mind," Selina chuckled.
Trevon grumbled, "But… I do mind."
"Oh… Trevon, you're jealous!" Selina laughed, believing him to be joking.
The next second, Trevon placed his hand on her shoulder.
"Yes, honey. I'm jealous," he stated firmly.
Selina was momentarily speechless, unprepared for his seriousness. Biting her lip, she gazed into his eyes and playfully scratched his nose.
Selina said soothingly, "Honey, be generous. She's your sister, isn't she? I'll always love you; there's no need to be jealous."
Trevon sighed, "I love you, so I can't stand… Anyway, I'll try not to be jealous." He said it deliberately, wondering if Selina saw this as mere acting or genuine affection. Eleven months remained in their contract, giving him ample time. He would tread carefully, aware of Selina's rebellious nature. Pressure would only increase her resistance. He would win her love, and he wouldn't let her go.
He had once envisioned a monotonous life, but Selina had transformed it, a vibrant rainbow in his otherwise ordinary existence. He couldn't bear the thought of her leaving.
