Chapter 75

Timothy glared at Selink in disbelief. He was shocked by what Nora called Selina. "Buster's in-law," Selina? Timothy thought, his eyes wide. He was pretty sure he hadn't misheard; he was literally dumbfounded. She wasn't Timothy's sister, so who was her brother?

The Clark family knew perfectly well the so-called engagement was a sham, and they'd long planned to speak with the Harvey family and cancel it. Even though Selina was the Harvey family's eldest daughter, despite her missing twenty-one years and her unwanted status, she remained a country bumpkin who hadn't graduated from middle school and had grown up in the countryside. The Clark family wouldn't accept Selina, no matter what; they all wanted Ashley to be Timothy's wife.

But, outwardly, Selina was still Timothy's fiancée, and Timothy couldn't simply ignore this.

Nora declared, "I said Selina is my sister-in-law, so what? You think a cocky guy like you is good enough for Selina? Go away and don't taint Selina's eyes!"

Nora's eyes were full of contempt, confronting Timothy. She detested anyone who offended her. "What are you calling me cocky? Are you crazy?" Timothy blurted out.

Timothy was both angry and confused. As the highly gifted future successor of the Clark family, he'd never experienced failure. Everyone had told him he would be the hope of the Clark Group. He never imagined being called cocky by a strange young girl. Quinton cleared his throat. "Okay, Timothy, just ignore her. Let's go!"

Quinton was afraid that if they continued to bicker, they'd expose Selina's marriage. He was already annoyed by what happened in Manuel and didn't want to explain anything to the Clark family. He just wanted to leave.

However, Nora was still furious and continued, "You cocky man! Selina is my brother's wife, so stop peeking at her! Did you hear what I said? Humph!"

Timothy ignored Nora's other comments, but he caught the keyword, "wife." He looked at Selina angrily. "Selina, are you married to someone else?"

Selina was amused. She chuckled. "What does it matter to you if I'm married? It's more like you're too happy to say anything. For this ridiculous engagement, you had secret meetings with Ashley. Now you can see her openly. Aren't you thrilled?"

"You... Stop slandering me! Ashley and I are just friends!" Timothy stammered.

Selina said impatiently, "Friends? Don't sully the word 'friend.' Both the Harvey and Clark families know about your relationship. Why pretend otherwise? Are you a coward?"

Noticing Selina's arrogant and scornful attitude, Timothy was enraged. "Selina, I won't tolerate you slandering Ashley and me. You're the one who's done wrong. You're married to someone else and dishonored the Clark family! You're engaged to me, remember?"

Timothy disliked Selina and considered her unworthy of the Clark family, but she was his nominal fiancée until the engagement was officially broken off. This meant Timothy and Ashley could only date in secret. Now, Selina, the culprit, had married another man, making Timothy's years of pretense a joke. Before Timothy could dump Selina, Selina dumped him! "Engaged?" Nora exclaimed.

Nora's eyes widened as if she'd heard breaking news; she was speechless for a moment. It seemed Nora didn't know much about Selina.

Selina said calmly, "So Quinton told you nothing. I severed ties with the Harvey family. They said they wouldn't allow it unless I married, so I married as they wished. Besides, my husband is a thousand times—no, ten thousand times—better than you!"

"Who is this man?" Timothy asked.

Timothy couldn't help but laugh when Selina said her husband was a million times better than him, the future heir to the Clark family. He thought she was bragging; it was impossible to find a more desirable husband in Sokovis than himself! Quinton wanted to hide his face. Thinking of the name Selina was about to reveal, he desperately wanted to drag Timothy away. However, he knew Timothy wouldn't leave without hearing the name.

"Quinton, who's telling him? You or me?" Selina snorted, arms crossed, a playful glint in her eyes. She knew Quinton wouldn't reveal Selina and Trevon's marriage; it would cause too much trouble. However, she was eager to see Timothy's reaction.

Timothy blurted out, "Mr. Harvey, you knew about this?" He looked at Quinton in surprise, wondering why he hadn't been told. Timothy disliked Selina, but he had a right to know what was happening to his fiancée!

Quinton said awkwardly, "Timothy, calm down. Let's get Manuel out first, okay? I'll tell you everything later. Too many people here; this isn't the time."

Quinton desperately wanted to leave. Seeing Quinton's expression, Timothy immediately suspected something was amiss. He thought skeptically, Selina's husband is that powerful? He can't be better than me, the Clark Group heir! Are there unmarried, wealthy older men in Sokovis I don't know about?

A few candidates flashed through his mind, but he'd heard no rumors of their marriage. He suspected Selina had become someone's mistress. In his eyes, she was just a pretty, airheaded girl. Still, he couldn't think of a better husband for himself in the city.

Nora approached Selina, affectionately holding her arm. "My last name is Brady. Selina is my sister-in-law; who do you think her husband is?"

The Brady family? Timothy thought, dumbfounded. He finally recognized Nora from the Insight Group's anniversary party.

"Trevon..." Timothy murmured uncertainly. He had to admit Trevon was the only young man in Sokovis better than himself. As for those retiring older men, Timothy never took them seriously.

Nora chuckled. "Bingo. Don't be sad; it's understandable you can't compete with him. My brother is the Brady family's youngest and best entrepreneur, CEO of Insight Group. In short, leave Selina alone, you cocky man. Did you hear me? Go away!"
