Never Truly Over Chapter 18
Chapter 18
“Thank you, Mr. Sutton, but I have employee meals,” Quinn replied brightly. “What’s there to do in Xenvale?” He didn’t press her, but calmly picked up his coffee cup and took a sip. “Uh… are you asking about tourist spots?” Quinn asked, slightly confused. “Mm.” He nodded.
Thinking for a moment, Quinn counted off on her fingers. “There’s Lakeside Park, Dolphin Pier, Moon Island, and the Fossil Museum. They say these places are quite interesting.” “Choose one you like and come with me to check it out,” Cameron said, setting down his cup. “What?” Quinn was momentarily taken aback.
“Are you not going to take a seat? We’re leaving in half an hour, and I doubt you’ll have time to eat your employee meal,” he said, wiping his mouth with a napkin and casually grabbing a sandwich.
Realizing Mr. Sutton wanted to take her out—or rather, that he wanted to go out and needed her as a tour guide, since he was unfamiliar with the area—Quinn decided she couldn't refuse. After all, if she didn't eat breakfast now, she'd be hungry later.
After finishing her breakfast, Quinn returned to her room to change out of her work uniform. She opted for a simple white T-shirt and denim shorts, a fresh and youthful look, a stark contrast to her usual black skirt suit.
Cameron’s gaze swept over her, and the corner of his mouth lifted slightly. This was more like the vibrant appearance of a young girl, although he wondered if the outfit was a bit too plain.
Once outside, they headed directly to the underground parking garage. Cameron walked to the VIP parking area, approached a black Mercedes, opened the door, and took the driver’s seat. Quinn hesitated, pondering whether to sit in the passenger seat or the back. The backseat seemed inappropriate; it wouldn't make sense for someone of Cameron’s stature to drive her around. However, sitting next to him in the passenger seat made her feel a bit nervous.
As she decided, the passenger window slid down. “What are you waiting for?” His patience was clearly wearing thin.
She figured it was best to sit in the passenger seat. He wouldn't take advantage of her, would he? She gritted her teeth, pulled open the passenger door, and plopped down into the seat. “Buckle up,” Cameron reminded her, starting the engine. Quinn obediently fastened her seatbelt as the car slowly rolled out of the garage and onto the main road.
“So, where are we going?” Cameron asked as they drove. “Um, how about the Fossil Museum? I heard they have dinosaur fossils from thousands of years ago…” Quinn had wanted to visit for a long time but never had the time. The museum was quite a distance away; taking the bus would take almost two hours, which was too much hassle. Now, with a free driver and no impact on her work, it was a win-win situation.
Cameron opened the navigation app and entered the museum’s address. Just then, his phone buzzed with a text message. He glanced at the message, a cold smile creeping onto his lips as he abruptly turned the car around, entering the opposite lane. “Hey, wait! The museum isn’t this way. You need to go straight ahead!” Quinn shouted, realizing he was heading in the wrong direction.
