Never Truly Over Chapter 19

Chapter 19

“We’re going to Moon Island,” Cameron said indifferently, with undeniable authority.

Wasn’t she supposed to decide where to go? Why the sudden change? What was the point of asking her to pick a place if he was just going to ignore her choice? Quinn pouted slightly, feeling disgruntled.

“You don’t want to go there?” Although his eyes were focused on the road, Cameron sensed her disappointment.

“N-no, of course not! It’s just… you’re the boss, so whatever you say goes.”

“Then be happy about it.”

How was she not allowed to feel down about this? He was so domineering, Quinn silently grumbled. But she forced a bright, fake smile. Wasn’t it just about acting happy? She could handle that.

After driving for twenty minutes, the car’s air conditioning chilled the car to a frigid temperature, making Quinn, dressed in a thin T-shirt with her arms exposed, feel cold. She hugged her arms tightly, shivering occasionally. Though Cameron was focused on driving, he caught a glimpse of her distress and chuckled. Reaching over, he opened the car’s storage compartment, pulled out a neatly folded Burberry blanket, and tossed it over her shoulders. “Cover up if you’re cold.”

Feeling embarrassed, Quinn quickly waved her hands. “I’m fine! I… I don’t—!” At that moment, as she sneezed, Quinn wished she could disappear. It was so embarrassing!

Resigned, she wrapped the blanket around herself, instantly feeling warmer. Maybe it was because she had stayed up too late the night before, but she soon succumbed to sleep, her eyes fluttering shut.

When she awoke, she saw deep black eyes and a handsome face magnified before her.

“Are you awake?” he asked, his voice deep, magnetic, and pleasant. He then turned slightly.

Quinn was still groggy. She took a moment to process everything. When she finally realized where she was, she exclaimed, “I’m so sorry, Mr. Sutton! I didn’t mean to fall asleep! Your driving was smooth, and the seat was so comfortable…”

“Didn’t know you knew how to suck up to people,” Cameron remarked, smirking. A hint of amusement danced at the corners of his mouth. He got out of the car.

Quinn’s expression froze. “Suck up to people”? That was a term she had never heard used about her before.

Moon Island, a natural paradise located twenty nautical miles from Xenvale’s Platinum Beach, was preserved years ago by the government and remained undeveloped, boasting stunning natural scenery and vast stretches of pristine forest. In recent years, with the real estate boom, the government aimed to attract investment by developing tourism resources and easing restrictions. Moon Island was included in the development plan, leading to a surge of interest from developers eager to capitalize on its unique advantages. Although it was still uncertain who would secure the development rights, routes to Moon Island had been established and opened to the public on weekends. As a result, many families flocked to the island for outings, and its reputation grew.

As Quinn exited the car, she spotted a yacht waiting at the dock. “Are… are we taking a boat?” Quinn stared at the yacht, feeling apprehensive.
