Never Truly Over Chapter 20
Chapter 20
“Are you scared?” Cameron noticed her hesitation.
“N–no, not at all.”
“Let’s go then,” he said casually, taking her hand and leading her onto the yacht.
The warmth of his touch instantly flushed Quinn’s cheeks, and she didn’t dare pull away, allowing him to guide her. Though she claimed not to be afraid, she remained frozen once on board, too anxious to move. The waves were choppy, and the yacht was moving quickly, giving her the unsettling feeling that it could capsize at any moment.
Glancing at Cameron, who stood beside her, she saw him facing the wind, his hair swept back. He looked calm and composed, completely unfazed.
Suddenly, the yacht turned sharply, and Quinn’s body was thrown to the right, her head lightly bumping against Cameron’s shoulder.
“I’m so sorry,” she said, rubbing her forehead and apologizing, feeling nausea rolling in her stomach.
Noticing her discomfort, Cameron raised an eyebrow. “Are you feeling seasick?”
“Yeah.” Quinn fought against the queasiness, blinking her big, pitiful eyes as she nodded.
“Just hold on,” he ordered, and turned to the yacht’s driver. “Do you have any motion sickness medicine?”
The driver pointed to a nearby first-aid kit. “Check in there.”
“No need to trouble yourself. I’m fine…” Quinn started to say, but before she could finish, a wave of intense nausea surged up, forcing her to clamp her mouth shut and clutch her chest.
Cameron opened the first-aid kit and rummaged through it but found no motion sickness medicine.
“Slow down,” he instructed the captain. Then he reached into the front compartment, grabbed a bottle of water, and handed it to Quinn. “Drink some water,” he said.
Taking the cold water, Quinn grimaced as she took a few sips before setting it down.
What should she do? She still felt like she might throw up…
Quinn wanted to cry from regret. Why hadn’t she just told him she got motion sickness before boarding? Now she felt nauseous but didn’t dare to vomit, trapped in her discomfort. Her face paled, and beads of sweat began to form on her forehead.
As she was about to lean against the side of the boat to let it all out, a warm hand cradled her head, gently pulling her towards him. She found herself leaning into a wide, warm embrace.
What was happening?
Startled, she tried to push away but was forced back against his chest. “Don’t move. Just lean against me and close your eyes.”
“Huh?” Quinn’s mind raced, but she was too hesitant to resist.
With her ear against his chest, she could hear the steady rhythm of his strong heartbeat, syncing with her own racing heart. Things were awkward now, and she was feeling very shy and nervous!
She didn’t dare to open her eyes. She was also unaware that her face had turned red like an apple. With each breath, she inhaled the faint scent of his cologne.
Perhaps it was the slowing speed of the boat or the comfort of being in his embrace, but soon, the overwhelming nausea began to fade, replaced by a drowsiness that washed over her.
Quinn scolded herself, “Why are you such a sleepyhead? You just slept in the car, and now you’re going to sleep on the boat, too?”
