Never Truly Over Chapter 35

Chapter 35

Quinn’s mind was so preoccupied with the enormous debt that she remained in a daze throughout the journey. She was so lost in thought that she didn't even realize when the train reached her stop. By the time she came to her senses, the train had already arrived at the next small town.

Panicking, Quinn rushed to grab her bag, only to find it gone. Her heart sank as she realized that all her money, her father’s lifeline, had vanished with it.

Tears instantly streamed down her face. Some kind-hearted passengers noticed her distress and asked what had happened. After hearing that her bag had been taken, they helped her alert the train staff.

The conductor listened to her situation and took her off the train at the next stop, suggesting she contact a friend or family member to pick her up. However, Quinn knew no one in this unfamiliar town. Her only family was Simon, who was far away in Casadonia, and James, who desperately needed rescue.

The young station manager noticed her teary eyes and asked her sympathetically, “Is there no one who can come get you?”

Quinn shook her head, overwhelmed by her lack of options. With no money and no contacts, she was at a loss for what to do next.

“How about Yatran? It’s only a 90-minute ride from here. We can arrange a free train ticket for you,” the manager suggested kindly.

At the mention of Yatran, a name suddenly popped into Quinn’s mind. Even though there was no guarantee he would help her, he was the only person she could think of.

“Yes, I know someone there,” she said, hope flickering in her eyes. “But my phone’s dead. I can’t call anyone.”

The manager handed her his own phone. “Here, use mine. Tell them to meet you at the Yatran station at 3:30 a.m.”

Quinn hesitated for a moment before dialing Harry’s number. Unfortunately, it went straight to voicemail. It was past midnight, and Harry, enjoying his day off, had likely turned off his phone before bed.

As she hung up, Quinn felt her hope slipping away. Seeing the disappointment on Quinn’s face, the manager asked, “What’s wrong? Is the person not picking up?”

However, Quinn did not return the phone just yet. She bit her lip and dialed another number—her last hope. If this call did not go through, she would be spending the night at a shelter, with no way to help James.

After what felt like an eternity, the call connected. Quinn’s heart raced as she waited, praying he would answer.

Just as she was about to give up hope, a groggy voice came through the line. “Who is this?”

“Mr. Sutton, it’s me,” Quinn replied, barely holding back tears as she was overcome with relief.

“Ms. Lawson?”

“Mr. Sutton, please help me. I took a train to Yatran, but I missed my stop. Someone stole my bag, and now I’m stranded without any money…” Quinn sobbed as she explained her situation.
