Listen to this chapter:

Caleb Zelle was Quinn’s first love. He was the first man she fell for. However, their parents did not approve of their relationship. There was a huge difference in their family backgrounds. Caleb’s mother had even offered Quinn money to leave Caleb.

At that time, Quinn needed money because of Simon’s sickness. After weighing the pros and cons, she decided to take the money so that he could undergo surgery. She intended to repay the Zeller family later.

Caleb, upon discovering she had taken the money, did not ask her why. Instead, he humiliated her and broke up with her. She was heartbroken and tried to explain herself to make him stay, but to no avail. In the end, she accepted the breakup.

Afterward, she worked multiple jobs to repay the Zeller family. However, Simon still needed considerable money for subsequent treatment. Left with no other choice, she went to work in a nightclub through a senior's connection.

Since the night she met Cameron, she knew she could leave the past with Caleb behind. Cameron was generous; he gave her enough money to pay for Simon’s medical bills and return the money to Caleb’s mother. She no longer felt guilty after repaying Caleb’s mother. From then on, she owed the Zeller family nothing. That also marked the end of her relationship with Caleb.

“Quinn? Quinn? Are you okay?” Seeing that Quinn fell silent, Melody waved her hand in front of her.

Quinn came back to her senses and still looked blank. “I’m okay. It has been so many years. So, he’s getting married.”

“It’s good to know that you take things that way. But I heard Zoe was around Caleb when you broke up with him. They probably got together since that time,” Melody said disdainfully.

Quinn didn’t care about all this. She merely smiled bitterly without saying a word.

“Your brother was ill back then, but your mom refused to use her wealth to save him. Could it be that Zoe secretly pulled some dirty tricks? If that was the case, she was too good at self-promotion. You had been fooled,” Melody deduced, like a detective.

Quinn’s heart pounded after listening to Melody. She wondered if that was truly the case.

“Stop speculating. The past is in the past. I don’t want to think about it anymore. We’ve finally met after so long. Can’t we talk about something happy?” Quinn waved her hand, stopping herself from overthinking.

Seeing that, Melody smiled embarrassedly and patted her mouth a few times. “I’ve made you feel more troubled. Forget it. Let’s stop talking about that. We’ll talk about something happy.”

Then, the topic changed. Melody had to meet her friend for a meal. Hence, they left respectively after exchanging contact information.

Quinn left the cafe. She walked down the familiar street and suddenly felt sad. However, time could heal anything. She couldn’t really remember the pain she felt when she lost Caleb. His handsome and bright face was the only thing left in her memory.

Quinn was extremely exhausted by the time she returned to Cameron’s villa. After showering, she wasn’t in the mood to prepare food. Hence, she went to bed early.

When she woke up the next morning, she found herself lying in a warm embrace. Cameron’s charming face was right before her. She had slept so soundly the night before that she didn’t even know when he had gone to bed.

She gently moved her body and was about to get up to prepare breakfast. His sleepy voice sounded above her. “Don’t move. Stay here with me for a while.”
