Chapter 83

Although Quinn had never owned luxury items like these before, she worked at a five-star hotel and had met many wealthy people. Therefore, she could recognize all the items she saw. Hilda’s eyes shone as she gazed at the pile of gifts. Quinn, having recovered from her shock, pulled out her phone and called Cameron.

It rang for a long time before someone answered, but it wasn’t Cameron.

“How are they, Quinn? Have you received the gifts? Were you very surprised?” Harry’s excited voice came over the phone.

“Um, who’s Cameron?” Quinn asked.

“Mr. Sutton is seeing an important guest right now, so he doesn’t have time to answer the phone,” Harry said.

“Do you know why he suddenly gave me so many expensive gifts?”

“Aren’t you supposed to attend your friend’s engagement ceremony? Mr. Sutton specially instructed me to prepare these for you.”

How had Cameron known she was going to attend the engagement ceremony?

“Quinn, I’m a little busy right now, so we’ll have to talk later. I’ll tell Mr. Sutton that you called.” Harry seemed very busy. He hung up without waiting for Quinn’s response.

Quinn stared dazedly at the pile of luxurious clothes and jewelry before her.

Hilda knew what she was thinking and said, “Ms. Lawson, I was the one who told Mr. Sutton that you would be attending your friend’s engagement ceremony.”

“When you came back yesterday afternoon, you tossed your bag onto the living room couch. I was going to bring it upstairs for you, but I accidentally unfastened the button, and the invitation slipped out onto the floor. I saw it when I picked it up.”

So that’s what had happened.

Quinn took a deep breath and wrapped the things up neatly once more.

“Ms. Lawson, are you… don’t you want to try these on?” Hilda looked at her in confusion.

Quinn said, “Hilda, put these things away for me. I’m not planning on wearing these to the engagement ceremony.”

“Why? Look at how beautiful they are. Don’t you like them?”

“No, it’s not that.” How could she not like the things he had given her? She just felt that Caleb and Zoe’s engagement ceremony wasn’t worth the effort.

Over at the Jarman residence, the entire household was busy with Zoe’s impending engagement ceremony.

Zoe was in her bedroom, lounging on the couch in a robe while a manicurist did her nails. There was a series of locks on the door. Someone pushed it open from the outside, and Ivanna led Pamela in.

Zoe looked up lazily and glanced at Pamela, who was walking toward her. “What are you doing here?”

“Ms. Jakeman, she has something to say to you. It’s about Quinn,” Ivanna reported.

Pamela stood there, nodding sincerely.

When Zoe heard that it was about Quinn, she was immediately interested. She pointed at the empty couch opposite her. “Sit down, and let’s… Ivanna, go and get a glass of juice.”
