Melody invited Quinn out for coffee one afternoon. Quinn told her about being invited to Zoe’s engagement party. When Melody heard this, she said immediately, “Don’t go! It’s definitely a trap!”
Quinn said hesitantly, “Melody sighed heavily upon hearing this. “Zoe is a scheming bitch. She knew you wouldn’t go if she invited you, so she used your mom as bait. It’s all because you aren’t fussy. If my mom abandoned me, I wouldn’t want to be…”
“She has cancer; and I don’t know how much time she has left,” Quinn explained. This was why she was in a hurry to see her.
Melody scoffed. Without hesitation, she said, “Zoe’s words can’t be trusted. She’s definitely lying.”
“What if it’s true?” Quinn shot back.
“Eine. I can’t beat you in this argument.” Melody had nothing more to say, so she stirred her drink with her straw.
She looked at the two tallest skyscrapers in the city center, which were built next to each other, and asked, “Say, why is Zoe born rich while we’re so poor?”
“Your situation is good enough. Can’t you be content with that?”
“Well, it depends on who I’m comparing myself with. I’m pretty lucky if I compare myself to an unlucky person like you. However, compared with Zoe, I’m far from lucky. Not to mention in comparison to our chairman’s daughter!”
“Your chairman’s daughter? Why would you suddenly compare yourself to her?” Quinn found it rather funny.
Melody replied, “Jealousy, of course. Not only is she beautiful, she’s rich. Most importantly, do you know how perfect her fiancé is? He’s basically a real-life prince.”
She pointed at the tallest building. “Hey, do you see these two buildings? One is our company, and the other is her fiancé’s company.”
Melody clicked her tongue and added, “With these two families joining forces, they’ll probably rank in the top ten among the most powerful international conglomerates in the world.”
“How old are you? Why are you still talking about princes?” Quinn asked as she laughed. She reached out to flick Quinn on the forehead.
“Don’t take it as a fairytale. This is real life. Say, wouldn’t it be nice if I found the perfect man?” Melody said that, and she started to daydream.
Quinn knew it wasn’t a fairytale. Wasn’t there a perfect and excellent man in her life? She thought of Cameron and couldn’t help but look happy. She was now the fairytale character, Cinderella.
“You’ll meet him someday,” she comforted Melody.
“Even if there’s no prince, I’ll accept a rich single man.” Melody was quite knowledgeable about current affairs.
“Don't worry about it. He’ll show up.”
“You’re just… lumoting mit…”
“No, I’m…”
“You are…[can hear…”
Zoe’s engagement party was held two days later at seven in the evening. The venue was at Jakeman Estate. Quinn didn’t wear the gorgeous dress Cameron had prepared for her. However, she understood that if she dressed too shabbily, the rich people in those kinds of social circles would look down on her.
