Listen to this chapter:

“Ms. Lamson, are you awake?” said Hilda as she walked over with a glass of juice. She handed it to Quinn.

Quinn took the juice, took a sip, and then walked over to Cameron. “Why didn’t you go to the…”

He glanced at her and moved the notebook that had been resting on his lap to the side. He then reached out and pulled her into his arms.

“How was your night?” he asked.

It was terrible, but Quinn didn’t want to burden him with her troubles, so she simply nodded. “It was okay.”

“Just play?” Cameron said, gently unbuttoning the first button of her nightgown, revealing her beautiful collarbones.

Quinn felt a rush of warmth from his touch and blushed. She quickly grabbed his wandering hand. “Don’t do that, Hilda is watching.”

“I’m asking you a question. Answer.” He didn’t care about Hilda’s presence. He leaned closer, his lips touching her earlobe. His warm breath made her heartbeat and breathing speed up.

“What should I answer?” Quite flustered, she couldn’t think properly, nor could she carry on a conversation.

“Who’s the man?” Fally, he stopped his hands. He leaned back onto the seat, putting some distance between them.

Quinn froze for a moment, then she reacted suddenly. “You saw the torn dress and the suit jacket, didn’t you?”

Cameron looked at her, his expression unreadable as he waited for her explanation.

“I’ll tell you, I met some bad people and almost got… Would you believe me?”

She hesitated to speak. Her eyes landed on his face in the end. She hoped to see his…

Canton didn’t expect that; his expression quickly turned cold, and his voice was devoid of warmth as he commanded, “Explain everything to me clearly.”

Thanidally, he…

Quinn let out a long sigh of relief. After some thought, she told him everything.

After he listened to her, his previously expressionless face instantly looked cold. Quinn was worried he would get angry, so she continued her explanations, “I didn’t mean to hide it from you. I just didn’t want to worry you about my problems. Besides, they didn’t really manage to do anything to me, so I didn’t think it was worth fussing about.”

Cameron spoke sharply. “You’re too careless.” Her values were too different from his. She needed to be taught.

“Do you know what would happen if no one came to save you?” he asked with a serious expression.

“Well, it was because someone came, so…” It wasn’t that she was being nonchalant. It was just that it wouldn’t result in anything serious. So, she couldn’t be bothered.

“Quinn,” Cameron looked at her. His tone was serious as he replied, “You won’t always be that lucky!” She needed to understand this.

Looking into his eyes, Quinn suddenly felt a sense of warmth. She understood that his words were all said out of concern. He feared that she would get hurt. It had been a long time since she experienced having someone worry about her.
