Chapter 60
Cedric was slightly annoyed. He snapped, “It’s not what you think. Stop asking questions and don’t do anything unnecessary, understand?”
Magnus shrank his neck and replied, “Okay, okay. I get it.” He wondered why Cedric was so angry about his few questions.
Cedric eventually shifted the topic. “So you wanted to invite her onto the team?”
“Yeah. I did think of that, but it’s mostly to annoy Lucas. He’s got no skills, yet he’s barking the loudest. I heard he doesn’t get along with his sister, so I thought I’d take advantage of the situation.”
“Wait until her exams are over if you want to recruit her. Before that, don’t bother her to avoid distracting her.”
After Cedric hung up, Magnus immediately added Noelle as a friend in the game. He wanted to figure out her exact relationship with Cedric.
He had never seen Cedric with a girl before, let alone treat one so well!
Noelle watched the classroom countdown reach zero. She had been waiting for this moment. From now on, she would start anew and correct everything that had gone wrong in her previous life.
She headed to the infirmary after classes.
Alfred waved. “The exams begin tomorrow. Are you nervous, Nelly?”
She replied, “I’m not nervous at all. If anything, I’m looking forward to it.”
Noelle looked at Cedric, sitting in a chair in his white coat. Even though his attitude was indifferent, she knew he was a good person at heart.
When their eyes met, Cedric noticed her anticipation and quickly understood.
He calmly said, “Good luck.”
Noelle smiled. “Thanks. I’ll be going now. Bye!” She had gone to the infirmary just to hear those words from him. There was almost no one else who genuinely wished her good luck.
After she left, Alfred clicked his tongue. “What a sweet little disciple you have! It makes me want one myself.”
Cedric ignored him and closed his eyes, feigning a nap.
“Cedric, shouldn’t you be going back once her exams are over? Or are you planning to look after her for the rest of her life?”
Cedric slowly opened his eyes, revealing a profound gaze.
He never thought about how long he would watch over Noelle; he had always done whatever he wanted.
The college entrance exams had begun.
Noelle slept well and woke up refreshed. She headed to the kitchen to make pancakes.
Meanwhile, Xenia was still coughing weakly, seemingly not yet fully recovered from her cold. Frank was visibly concerned. “Are you okay, Xenia? You’ve been sick for an entire month!”
Gordon was slightly panicking. “The bad cold must have been because Ms. Quigley was drenched in the rain.”
Noelle pretended not to hear; it was none of her business.
Xenia tried to smooth things over. “It’s just my body being weaker than normal, Frank. It’s my fault for being so careless.”
“Don’t think like that, Xenia. Just do your best, and don’t put too much stress on yourself.”
Noelle focused on eating her breakfast. She had been preparing for the exam for so long; she refused to let anything ruin her mood.
Later, Frank drove Noelle to school. It started to rain, cooling the morning sun but causing traffic.
Xenia, still looking pale, said, “Good luck on the exam, Noelle.”
Noelle looked out the window and said nothing.
Xenia bit her lip in frustration and glanced at Frank, but he remained silent. In the past, he would have reprimanded Noelle. Xenia had worked hard for a month, but nothing had changed!
The car arrived at school. When Noelle got out, her stationery fell from her bag. As she bent down, she realized all her tools were defective!
Noelle briefly panicked and wondered what had happened. She looked up at Xenia and realized that only Xenia could have done such a thing.
