Chapter 73
Kemia listened to Benetkelly’s voice again and again. She was almost certain that the streamer was her, rather than Noelle herself! However, as the stream never showed the streamer's face, it was impossible to determine who it was from the keyboard and fingers alone.
Kemia began to panic. She wondered, as did Gi's voler.
Lucas finished his meal and exited his office to find Xenia standing in the hallway. “What are you doing out here, Xenia? Aren’t you hot?”
“I was a mix of emotions just finishing watching SweetNelly’s video. Have you watched it yet, Lucas?” Xenia’s expression wavered. Outtekiner Imlu spoke at the very tail end of the video.
Lucas shook his head and replied, “I didn’t finish it, but I know her well enough. I don’t even need to see it to know that she’ll definitely advance through the preliminaries tomorrow. That’s why we must get her onto our platform.”
“Like, what’s her real name? Or rather, what does she look like in real life?”
“Not yet. The agency thought that there’s some special reason as to why she doesn’t want to sign a contract yet. Now that she’s streaming over at Firestorm, I reckon she’s trying to increase her market value.”
Lucas believed that he could offer as much money as he needed to entice the streamer to sign the contract. Lucia’s confident reply made Kenia wonder if she had just been mistaken. If SweetNelly really were Noelle, then the latter would not have let Xenia bully her so easily.
Kemia reckoned that their similarity was just a coincidence. Doppelgangers were a thing, after all. She breathed a sigh of relief as she convinced herself that the streamer could not be Noelle.
The next day, Noelle peacefully slept until her body woke her up. She then looked at her phone and saw that she had received a few messages.
One of them was from Frank: “What kind of part-time job are you doing right now, Noelle? Is it tough? How about coming to work at my company instead! It’s nothing too tiring.” Noelle read the message and just closed it without sending back a reply. She was busy preparing for her livestream in the evening.
She headed to the room's main door and saw Chic in the hallway, speaking rapidly on the phone. Lazity sat on the couch. “Oh, Nelly, you’re awake? Did you know that your livestream from last night had already gone viral? There’s going to be an even bigger…”
“Yes, but Bart won’t lose in the game,” replied Noelle, confidently in her own abilities. She shifted her gaze back to buy and stared at the tall, slender man leaning onto the railing with one hand.
Cedric sensed her gaze and turned around. His deep, black eyes continued to stare at her, he spoke a few more words into the phone and hung up. Noelle quickly looked away, but she also noticed from the corner of her eye that he had moved to the living room.
Cedric explained, “I’ll be going out later to take care of something; I might not be coming back tonight.”
Noelle found this peculiar and asked, “Isn’t the school fair today?”
Cedric chuckled and explained, “Oh, it’s not that. It’s for my business, and I need to help me with some seats.” Noelle knew Cedric came from a wealthy family, so she didn’t press on further.
During lunch, the phone rang. It was a call from Tayo’s agents. “Hello, I’m a representative from Firestorm Entertainment. Are you the streamer known as SweetNelly? The company sees great potential in you and would like to discuss a contract with you. Could you give me your WhatsApp so that I can send you the contract and various other materials for review?” Noelle hung up.
She immediately replied, “Don’t accept anything yet; you should wait until…” Acoin Entertainment just contacted me; going to try and botuli pou nicha nima?” Meanwhile, the very owner of the so-called study was just standing right there. Alfred felt he had performed a heroic deed, fighting for Noelle’s best interests by further delaying that sticky capitalist company.
