Chapter 74
Cedric ignored the hysterical Ntied and turned to Noelle. He told her, “Wait for me to return before you negotiate anything with Firestorm Entertainment.”
Noelle wasn’t in a hurry either. “May—” she began, trailing off.
After Cedric and Alfred left the apartment, she reviewed Firestorm’s contract and saw that the terms were rather appealing. However, it required her to stream for several hours every day and participate in the company’s promotional events. As of now, she needed to do live streaming for money, but her goal was not to simply make money. What Noelle really wanted to do was join the national teams and become a professional player who competed in tournaments.
She decided to think about the contract later. She logged into the game to upgrade some of her equipment. After all the Player Kill matches she had gone through last night, her gear needed some tuning and maintenance. But as soon as she logged in, she was bombarded with hundreds upon hundreds of friend requests! Some of them were from managers of professional teams, and some of them were from fans.
Noelle quickly reviewed all the friend requests but did not accept any of them. She then closed the friend request window entirely.
After that, she was greeted by a new message from Lucas, who was as respectful as ever. “Hello, Sweethelly. I watched your stream last night. You were amazing! But I’d like to advise you not to sign the contract with Firestorm as they often do not have the best interests of their streamers in mind. I’d like to invite you to stream on Starlight instead. We’re backed by none other than Moonbright Entertainment itself! Not only can you be a streamer, but you’ll also be given an opportunity to break through into the entertainment industry!”
Noelle recalled that Xenia had indeed transitioned into the entertainment industry and had done well with Blake’s support. Her lips curled into a grin as she replied, “No thanks.”
With that, she began adjusting her gear. Noelle soon saw Lucas sending her several more messages in rapid succession, but she didn’t even bother to read them.
She turned her attention to the list of players who made it into the preliminary rounds and saw that ten players had advanced last night. They were the ten players against whom she would have to compete in the Player Kill matches that night. The sole winner would earn the top rank, after which they could finally challenge the other players on the list to a Player Kill match.
She scanned the list and recognized a few familiar names, most of them players of various professional teams. However, she did not see the player with the username ReverseTime. Noelle recalled that she had first encountered ReverseTime during the Hall of Fame event in her previous life; it was thanks to his guidance that she had managed to fight her way into the finals. She had always suspected that ReverseTime was Cedric himself because he had also used the same username in the game. But the timing didn’t add up, leaving Noelle uncertain whether they were the same person. She wondered if he had altered the course of her previous life, making it impossible for her to meet that person again. The thought left her a little discouraged.
That evening, Noelle went live stream right on schedule. As soon as she went live, she was greeted with a viewer count of 100,000. The chat was being flooded with questions as well as speculations.
“I think she’s hacking; she’ll slip up during the PK matches today.” “You’re all just salty, bruh. Just because you guys suck at the game doesn’t mean she’s hacking.” “Why doesn’t she show her face? She’s probably afraid of being exposed for getting boosted, huh?” “You shouldn’t be harassing female players!”
In the chat, she suddenly saw a donation being sent in her stream. She saw a name and widened her eyes when she saw that it was from Team Lumenach. The donor was none other than Lucas himself.
“You’re the real deal! And let me be frank! I want to recruit you to my team!”
The chat erupted into an uproar. Lucas’s verified account left no room to doubt about impersonators. A mocking smile appeared on Noelle’s face as she calmly said, “It’s time for tonight’s PK matches!”
Lucas almost fell out of his chair upon hearing her. He recognized the voice to be even better than he followed.
