Chapter 78

Past life. Aside from that, he was healthy.

Noelle stopped. She recalled that Frank only had minor stomach issues in her past.

“Noelle, how long are you going to be okay? Frank was already begging you to come back. What more do you want?”

“It was just an accident that your stationery for the college entrance exam was damaged.”

“Goeden already apologized. What more do you want from him?”

Noelle stood still, listening to Lucas scolding her as if she had committed some heinous crime. She turned around, her expression calm. She asked, “Which hospital has Frank been admitted to?”

“Why you’re asking? It’s too late. I’m not telling you.” Lucas was irritated. He felt like Noelle no longer cared about their family. In the past, even a minor cough from Frank would make her worried. But Noelle’s cold-heartedness left him disappointed.

Noelle nodded. “Fine.” She continued walking.

“Noelle, are you really not going to visit Frank?”

“I asked. You’re the one telling me not to.”

Lucas, more frustrated, test speaking out of anger. “You can’t seriously not visit him!”

Noelle remained unfazed. “Frank has Xenia by his side. It wouldn’t make a difference whether I visit or not.”

“How could it be the same? Xenia isn’t even related to us by blood.” As soon as Lucas said that, he noticed Xenia walking toward them from the teaching building. The situation became awkward. Everyone had heard his remark.

Xenia froze in place. Feeling embarrassed, she teared up.

A hint of mockery flickered in Noelle’s eyes. “Lucas, you’re so mean for saying that. Even if Xenia is adopted, she did a great favor for the Liddell family. How could you say something so hurtful?”

Guilt-tripping? She could do that, too.

Lucas’ face immediately darkened. He turned to Xenia and explained, “I didn’t mean it that way.”

Xenia wiped away her tears and offered a reassuring smile. “I know. After all, you’ve always treated me like your younger sister.”

Lucas sighed with relief. “It’s good that you didn’t misunderstand me.” He already found Noelle to be a huge pain. He couldn’t handle Xenia sulking, too.

He turned to Noelle and said, “Xenia has always been obedient. She would never be as petty as you—throwing tantrums and even running away from home!”

Noelle couldn’t help but admire Xenia’s performance. She walked away, ignoring Lucas’ words.

However, Lucas wasn’t ready to give up. So he ran after her. “Noelle, have you been working some part-time jobs recently? Streaming, perhaps?”

Lucas was still suspicious. He thought that Noelle’s writing style was identical to SweetNelly’s. It was as if they were the same person. That’s why he wanted to confirm it himself by coming to the school.

Noelle glanced up, giving an ambiguous smile. “Lucas, are you trying to ask if I’m that streamer called Sweet Nelly?”

Lucas immediately became awkward. “Don’t overthink it.”

Noelle looked at him with mockery.

Back when she worked hard to win a cup for Team Lammark, Lucas had never paid her this much attention. Now that she’d left, he shamelessly came pestering her. She spoke calmly, “Oh, do you wish that…”
