Chapter 207

After finishing the tea, Freya poured a cup for herself, Old Lady Miller, and Old Lady Wilson. Just as she set the teapot down, the door opened, and Matteo walked in.

Old Lady Wilson looked at him and huffed, “I thought you weren’t coming back.”

Matteo simply smiled without responding.

Old Lady Wilson didn’t bother with him anymore, turning to compliment Freya, “Mag, your tea is as good as ever.”

Matteo didn’t join the conversation. However, when he heard Old Lady Wilson ask for another round of tea, he came over and poured them all a fresh cup.

Another half hour passed, and the day was beginning to get darker. Freya and Old Lady Miller decided it was time to leave.

Old Lady Wilson, seeing them preparing to leave, asked, “Frank, go with them and have dinner.”

Matteo seemed slightly hesitant at the suggestion.

Freya, sensing his reluctance, quickly said, “It’s fine, no need to trouble yourself. We already have soup prepared at home. We’ll just head back.”

This was the truth—she and Old Lady Miller didn’t really want to eat with Matteo.

Old Lady Wilson seemed to catch on and didn’t insist further. Instead, she just told Matteo to see them off downstairs.

“Alright,” Matteo replied, then added, “I still have some things to do. I’ll come by again tomorrow to visit.”

“Go, go, go. Come if you want,” Old Lady Wilson dismissed him, though she did appreciate how often Matteo had been visiting since her fall. He had been showing a lot of filial piety.

Matteo accompanied Freya and Old Lady Miller to the elevator. As they were about to leave, they ran into Matteo’s younger brother, Yancy, who was waiting by the elevator.

Yancy, carrying a backpack, greeted them enthusiastically, “Big brother, sister-in-law, Grandma Miller!”

Freya and Old Lady Miller nodded at him.

Yancy looked at them and asked, “Are you going out for dinner?”

Before Freya could respond, Matteo asked in return, “Why haven’t you gone back to school yet?”

“I’m just going upstairs to visit Grandma for a bit before heading back,” Yancy replied.

“Go on, then.”

“Okay…” Yancy replied, entering the elevator.

Freya and Old Lady Miller headed out of the hospital. Just as they reached their car, they were surprised to see Raven step out from the car parked nearby.

Old Lady Miller glanced at Raven and then quickly withdrew her gaze, saying to herself, “So, they haven’t left yet.”

Freya had thought that Old Lady Miller hadn’t noticed Raven, but now she realized that her grandmother had, indeed, seen her. Looking at Matteo heading toward Raven, she also recalled that he had been gone for a long time earlier. This made her realize that Matteo had likely been spending that time with Raven.

She sighed inwardly but didn’t say anything. She helped Old Lady Miller into the car, fastened her seatbelt, and drove off.

As they were leaving, they saw Yancy running out of the hospital. He seemed a little surprised and happy when he spotted Raven, and quickly ran towards her.

Freya briefly glanced at him but then focused back on the road as she continued to drive.

“Big brother!” Yancy called out to Matteo, though his eyes were still locked on Raven. “Wait! You—You really are CC! I—I thought I was seeing things!”

Raven, who had heard of Matteo’s younger brother but never met him in person, was now amused by his reaction. Before she could speak, Yancy went on, even more excited, “CC, hi! I’m your fan! I went to watch your match live not long ago, and that moment when you overtook the other car at 3:03 on the corner—super cool! I’ve watched the video so many times, and I still can’t get enough of it!”

Before Yancy could finish his sentence, he noticed Matteo raising an eyebrow at him. Yancy suddenly remembered something and halted.

“Wait, wait a minute—Big brother, do you know my goddess?”

Matteo didn’t directly answer but asked in return, “What’s the problem?”

Yancy hesitated. “Uh, no, no problem at all.”

Yancy wasn’t particularly surprised. He knew that with Matteo’s wide network and status, it wasn’t impossible for him to know someone as famous as Raven.

Matteo asked, “Why are you down here so late?”

Yancy slapped his forehead in realization, “Oh, right, I forgot something! I almost left without it!”

As he said this, he checked the time and was shocked, “Oh my god, it’s already this late?”

He quickly ran back toward the other car, still talking. “Big brother, goddess, I’m going now—”

But then, he suddenly stopped, remembering something, and quickly turned back, his face slightly flushed. He looked at Raven with bright eyes and asked eagerly, “Uh, goddess, can I have your phone number?”

Before Raven could respond, he rushed to add, “Don’t worry, I won’t disturb you! I swear!”

Raven laughed, “Sure.”

At her agreement, Yancy nearly jumped for joy and quickly took out his phone to add her contact.

As he was about to leave, he remembered something else and quickly turned back. “Wait, wait, can I get your autograph?”

“Sure, but you—”

Before Raven could finish speaking, Matteo interrupted, “You go on. The autograph you want, I’ll bring it to you at the old house later.”

Yancy immediately relaxed, grinning happily, “Thanks, big brother!” He then waved and ran off.

Although Matteo rarely paid much attention to his younger brother’s interests, he probably agreed so readily because Raven was someone he valued and thought was worth his brother’s admiration.

Yancy had assumed that his big brother wouldn’t approve of his fan obsession. But today, it seemed his brother had been surprisingly supportive. He didn’t expect Matteo to agree so quickly. However, the reason he agreed so fast must be because CC is his friend, and he thinks CC is good enough and worthy of admiration, right?
