Chapter 357: The Lonely Elderly Man
โDo you need to go to the hospital?โ Olivia asked.
Looking at the young woman before him, Daxton felt as if he were transported back decades. She looked so much like someone he once knew. It wasnโt until he saw Olivia in person that he realized she resembled his old friend even more than in the photos.
Olivia, noticing Daxtonโs prolonged silence, reached out to check his pulse again. No problems there.
โAre you alright?โ she asked, waving a hand in front of him.
Coming back to reality, Daxton took a deep breath, his expression wrinkling into a frown. โCough, cough, young lady, did you save me?โ
Olivia nodded, seeing he was finally responsive. โWhy are you out here alone? Where is your family?โ
There was a wheelchair nearby. Who would leave an elderly man with mobility issues alone like this? It was practically inviting trouble!
Hearing this, Daxtonโs eyes shifted cunningly as he suddenly adopted a pitiful demeanor. โAh, when you get oldโฆ people tend to disregard you. My old arms and legsโฆ no one cares for them anymore. Young lady, I was lucky to have met you today. Otherwise, I might not have seen tomorrowโs sun.โ
After saying this, Daxton theatrically wiped a tear from his eye, playing the part of a neglected and abandoned old man perfectly.
Having been raised by her grandmother, Olivia always held a deep respect for the elderly. Her disdain for those who neglected their elders was profound.
โDonโt be sad. Are you in any discomfort elsewhere?โ Olivia asked patiently, checking his well-being.
Daxton continued his charade, internally praising the kind-hearted girl who bore such a resemblance to his old friend. โMyโฆ my heart hurts a little, and Iโm having some difficulty breathing.โ
โWhy donโt you give me your familyโs phone number? I can contact them for you,โ Olivia suggested.
Daxton quickly wiped away more fake tears. โNo, letโs not bother them. Theyโre busy. Itโs just a little heart discomfort; Iโll get over it. I donโt want to interrupt their work or theyโll say Iโm just being an old nuisance againโฆ Ah, when youโre old, you become a burden.โ
Daxtonโs lamentations sounded to any listener like the cries of an old man oppressed by his uncaring descendants.
As expected, Oliviaโs expression darkened upon hearing this. โDonโt worry, having met you is fate. Iโll help you to your wheelchair.โ If she ever met Daxtonโs ungrateful relatives, she was determined to teach them what filial piety meant.
Meanwhile, Benjamin, reading a script on set, sneezed.
Daxton was touched by Oliviaโs kindness, but he knew his physique was too heavy for her slender frame to support easily.
Before he could finish, Olivia had already hoisted him up. In the next second, he was securely seated in his wheelchair.
Daxton was stunned. The family doctor watching from a distance was stunned as well.
