Rebirth of a Flopped Actress: Career First, Love Second
Chapter 393: Calm Under Pressure
โDue to Ms. Lilianaโs injuries, she has authorized me as her legal representative to handle this case on her behalf,โ the lawyer declared confidently.
Olivia glanced at the self-assured lawyer. It wasnโt possible to involve the police and bring her to the station without some evidence. However, she distinctly remembered avoiding all visible cameras when entering Starlit Entertainment. Could there have been hidden cameras?
Even so, Olivia remained unfazed. She looked at the smug lawyer and the stern police officer with an air of calm. Ignoring the lawyer, she turned to the officer with an innocent expression.
โOfficer, heโs saying I attacked Ms. Liliana. Shouldnโt there be evidence to prove it?โ
The officer turned to the lawyer. The lawyer promptly played a video he had already shown the police. As the video began, it showed a young woman with a face identical to Oliviaโs sneaking into the Starlit Entertainment building.
โThis is the footage of the suspect, Olivia, entering Starlit Entertainment that day,โ the lawyer explained. โShe entered around 10 a.m., stayed for about an hour, and left shortly after. During this time, my client, Ms. Liliana, was attacked.โ
The lawyer then played another clip showing Olivia leaving the building and immediately hailing a taxi. Watching the lawyerโs confident demeanor, Olivia almost laughed out loud.
So, this is Lilianaโs trump card? Really? This? How much did these low-budget effects cost?
โIn addition to the video, many employees at Starlit Entertainment reported seeing Olivia inside the building that day,โ the lawyer continued.
Oliviaโs lips curved into a subtle smirk. โMany people saw me?โ
The lawyer nodded. โMs. Carter, itโs in your best interest to cooperate. Besides, you reportedly bragged about your identity while attacking my client, even tying her up in a sack.โ
Olivia glanced at the lawyer and the officer. โOfficer, if it were really me, why would I brag about my identity after already tying her up in a sack?โ
The officer hesitated. Thatโฆ actually makes sense. The lawyer also faltered.
โIf I wasnโt afraid of her knowing it was me, why would I bother with a sack in the first place? Isnโt that redundant?โ
The lawyer wanted to retort but couldnโt find a logical response. True, no rational person would do that. Olivia capitalized on the momentum.
โSo, this so-called evidence is flawed. Everyone knows my production, โLegacy of the Dynasty,โ and Lilianaโs โTears of Riversโ are competitors. Itโs no secret we donโt get along. If someone wanted to attack Ms. Liliana while framing me to divert suspicion, isnโt that entirely plausible?โ
Both the lawyer and the officer were momentarily stunned. Olivia continued, โUse your brain. Would I really do something as reckless as attacking her and announcing it was me?โ
Of course, I would, because thatโs exactly how I roll.
The lawyer opened his mouth but couldnโt refute her point. Despite being Lilianaโs legal representative, he begrudgingly admitted that Oliviaโs argument made sense.
