Chapter 448: Going All In on Flattery
Olivia wasnโt planning to entertain him. But after a brief pause, she changed her mind.
โIโll take you in, but only if you agree to three conditions.โ
The kidโs eyes sparkled.
โMaster, forget threeโIโll agree to thirty!โ
Olivia typed, โFirst, you need to make a public apology on the hacker forum tomorrow.โ
The kid agreed instantly.
โGot it! What about the other two?โ
Olivia continued, โHavenโt decided yet. Iโll tell you when I do.โ
The kid froze mid-breath. So my master just makes up conditions as they go? Is this what peak hacker wisdom looks like?
Olivia typed, โStart working on your apology now. When youโre done, Iโll review it.โ
Eager to earn favor, the kid immediately hunched over his keyboard and started typing away.
Seeing the kid behaving so obediently, Olivia felt pretty pleased. Since she had nothing else to do, she scanned his room through the camera. The lighting was dim, and aside from the desk in front of him, there wasnโt much she could see. For all his hacker skills, at the end of the dayโhe was still a little kid.
Olivia had already countedโhe had made twelve typos. Even Little Wendigo on his screen had had enough. It hopped onto his cursor and slammed its paw down on the typo, as if personally offended.
The kid stared in confusion.
โMaster, is your super defense system trying to play with me?โ
Olivia said nothing. No, itโs just fed up with your terrible spelling.
Once he was almost done, Olivia made sure he added one last line:
โUnder the wise guidance of Taylor, I now fully understand my mistakes. I sincerely apologize for the unnecessary trouble I have caused everyone.โ
โMaster, whoโs Taylor?โ
Olivia replied, โMe.โ If she was going to be famous, she might as well have a proper alias.
The kid beamed.
โMaster, that name sounds so cool!โ
His suck-up skills were maxed out. Once the kid finished his apology, Olivia read through it. Aside from a couple of typos, it was good to go. She had ToxiQ post it straight to the hacker forum. Then, she forwarded the post to Brogan, making sure to point out that the โwise and mighty Taylorโ mentioned in the post was, in fact, her.
There was no way Olivia was letting this bounty money slip away. So, fine, sheโd reluctantly accept this kid as an apprentice if it meant getting paid. She also sent Brogan a quick message:
โAfter my relentless efforts, ToxiQ has finally turned over a new leaf. He has reformed and embraced the light. Being the kindhearted person I am, I couldnโt let him get locked up for life, so I took care of the situation for you. Since Iโm already keeping an eye on him, I wonโt charge you extra for supervision. Consider it a gift. Just send my labor fee to this account, 890*โ
Brogan was completely dumbfounded. Then he immediately responded.
โI thought our deal was that youโd find him for us.โ
Olivia replied, โAnd I did. You never said I had to hand him over. Iโm even being nice enough to supervise him for you. If you feel bad about getting free labor, Iโd be happy to take a small fee.โ
Brogan was shocked by her sheer audacity. Who the heck felt bad about freeloading? She was absolutely scamming him on purpose.
At the same time, on the hacker forum, top-tier hackers stared at the error-riddled apology post, collectively trying to process what they were seeing.
