Chapter 99: Kidnapping

After spending the entire afternoon playing with Alice, the little girl was finally worn out. The bodyguard drove them both home.

In the car, Alice yawned and leaned against Olivia’s lap. "This is the most fun birthday I've ever had," she said. "Olivia, I really like you… Do you want to be my sister-in-law?"

A child’s way of expressing affection was straightforward. She liked Olivia a lot and wanted to see her every day. But, since she was still young, her solution was that if her brother married Olivia, she could live with them, just like in the TV shows.

Olivia didn’t expect Alice to say something like that. She dismissed it as childish nonsense.

Afraid that Olivia might refuse, Alice quickly added, “My brother is amazing; he’s handsome, and you wouldn’t be embarrassed to take him anywhere. Plus, my family is super rich. My dad is the chairman of Sullivan Group. Marrying my brother would be totally worth it.”

Olivia chuckled, faintly recalling that Sophia had mentioned Hudson’s family background before. She hadn’t paid much attention at the time, but for some reason, when Alice brought up Sullivan Group again, Olivia felt a sense of familiarity.

“Sullivan Group…” Olivia frowned slightly as a memory from her past life surfaced.

“Sullivan Group Chairman’s Daughter Kidnapped, 50 Million Ransom Demanded.” Olivia froze as she recalled the headline. She seemed to remember such news in her past life. The news had reported that the Sullivan Group chairman’s daughter was kidnapped, and the kidnappers demanded a 50-million-ransom. The case caused a huge stir back then. To save his daughter, the chairman refused police intervention and paid the ransom as demanded.

But… the kidnappers killed the girl after getting the money! The memory from her past life made Olivia’s brow furrow deeply. No wonder I hadn’t heard anything about Alice in my past life. She must have died in that kidnapping! She also remembered that the kidnappers were eventually caught, and the mastermind turned out to be the Sullivan family’s bodyguard! This was one of the reasons why the kidnappers killed their hostage.

Olivia suddenly glanced at the bodyguard driving the car, recalling the earlier feeling of being followed. At this moment, she noticed that the bodyguard had driven onto a deserted road. There were no people around, and another car was following them.

“This doesn’t seem like the way we came,” Olivia said tentatively.

The bodyguard replied, “This route is shorter.”

Olivia squinted her eyes slightly. He is lying. This road doesn’t lead to their destination at all!

Olivia quickly pieced it together. The bodyguard driving them was the mastermind behind Alice’s kidnapping in her past life! Taking a deep breath, Olivia assessed the situation. The area was deserted, with few passing cars. The bodyguard had likely coordinated with his accomplices to act today. Alice seeking her out was unexpected, so the bodyguard must have decided to kidnap them both to prevent any leaks.

There wasn’t much time. Olivia considered escaping by jumping out of the car, but she couldn’t stand by and let Alice meet the same fate as in her past life.

“Sir, I need to use the restroom. Could you please pull over?” Olivia suddenly asked.

The bodyguard, unaware that Olivia had figured out his plan, stopped the car by the roadside. This place was remote, and with Alice already in his hands, there was no way she could escape. The car behind would catch up in less than five minutes, and then…

A glint of malice flashed in the bodyguard’s eyes as he envisioned himself living lavishly with the 50-million ransom.
