Chapter 80
Wenne looked at Wilson with a loving gaze, even more determined to secure this impressive man.
“Wilson, this incident is devastating, and I might have to leave the industry. Everyone is attacking me online, and I’m terrified.” Seeing Wilson wasn't blaming her, she moved to her next plan.
Wilson frowned. “Didn’t you say your manager gave you the idea?”
“But I have no proof. No one will believe me without it.”
“It doesn’t matter who’s behind it. Leave the rest to me.”
After Wilson left with Jackie, Yvonne quickly called her manager, Fred Wurst, and asked for his cooperation.
“Fred, I know you’ve done a lot for me, but I can’t lose the Farrells’ support. Wilson and I will compensate you handsomely; you have to help me.”
Fred was initially upset, scolding her for her actions. However, the promise of generous compensation changed his attitude. He agreed to be the scapegoat.
When Wilson arrived at Fred’s with several men to investigate, Fred admitted to concocting the scheme. He claimed Yvonne only participated because she was severely pressured.
The Farrells' power was undeniable. Fred was more than happy to be the scapegoat for an unprecedented payout. Before Daphne could react, Fred posted a confession video online.
“Regarding the incidents surrounding Ms. Smith, I am responsible. Daphne made my work life difficult, and I resented her. I sought revenge on her and those around her, using Yvonne to set them up.”
“I know I did something terrible. I sincerely apologize to Ms. Daphne. I will leave the industry and hope the online attacks against Yvonne cease, and innocent people are no longer implicated.”
Along with the video, he posted a lengthy caption explaining how he exploited Yvonne’s naiveté regarding luxury brands. He forced her to wear the counterfeit gown, lying that Zoey had provided it. He detailed how he misled Yvonne into misunderstanding Zoey, successfully clearing her name.
Simultaneously, Wilson arranged for the removal of some trending news about Yvonne, boosting a new story: “Yvonne Set Up by Her Manager!”
The easily manipulated online community changed its mind once again. After reading the update, many of Yvonne's fans returned to attack Daphne’s supporters.
“I knew this wasn’t Yvonne’s fault! I can’t believe you wanted her to apologize!”
“Even if the manager was wrong, Daphne’s bullying contributed. She's problematic!”
Daphne, upon learning the truth, was furious. She never expected Yvonne and Wilson to manipulate her manager.
“Oh, Wilson, you perfect match for that viper! Would her manager have risked his career without you? You bastard!”
Daphne’s rage intensified; she wanted to confront Wilson, to understand his actions. How could he clean up Yvonne’s mess when the evidence was clear? She wondered how Yvonne had bewitched him into such obliviousness.
