Chapter 82

Daphne’s question was laced with mockery; she no longer cared about being courteous to Wilson. After all, she considered herself nothing more than an "uneducated bitch" in his eyes.

Wilson kept his gaze forward, ignoring Daphne, who leaned against the door. He continued feeding Yvonne calmly and said, "I haven't made you pay for slapping me last time, Daphne, and you've actually caused this yourself."

"Well, how else can I check if your head is busted? Did you make Yvonne's manager the scapegoat? If you're planning to clear her name entirely, you can stop dreaming now!"

"This is a hospital! Open your eyes and look at her bandages! How could you say something so cold? Do you really want to push her to her death?" Wilson slammed the bowl down, his face turning cold.

"Please don't fight with her, Wilson. It's my fault; I shouldn't have listened to Fred and dragged her into this, regardless of the reason. She was almost cyberbullied because of me." After saying that, Yvonne turned to Daphne and humbled herself. "I'm sorry, Daphne. Please don't be mad—"

"Don't apologize to her. You did nothing wrong."

Daphne wanted to rush forward and attack them. Instead, anger fueled her laughter. After all, she was already being cyberbullied! Her laughter grew louder and louder until she could barely stand.

"Such a lowly trick? I don't buy it. Do you?"

"Wilson, have you really been blinded by love? Haven't you seen any other woman in your life before? How did she fool you so easily? Do you really believe her, or do you not care at all?"

Daphne suspected it was the latter—that he didn't care if Yvonne was vile or if she was hurting Daphne. "Get out of here if you're done barking. Don't disturb Yvonne's rest," Wilson said coldly. Then, he looked at Daphne with a cold gaze. "Yvonne is different from you, and she'd never hurt anyone on purpose. Before our divorce is finalized, I don't want to hear you talk about her again. Behave yourself, or things will get ugly."

After threatening Daphne, Wilson turned back to Yvonne. He gently tucked her messy hair away and said, "Yvonne, if anyone tries to hurt you again, let me know immediately. You don't have to do anything; you're my woman. I'll be by your side and protect you."

Daphne knew he said that for her to hear, and she smiled unconcernedly.

"Oh, I can finally stop worrying after hearing that, Wilson. Let's see if you can really protect her from me. By the way, I should remind you that I'm not the one in a hurry to get a divorce." With that, she left.

Daphne had rushed to the hospital after seeing the trending news and getting off the plane. After a whirlwind of emotions, she tiredly dragged herself back to her apartment.

After saying goodbye and thanking Lucas Thorne and Ava for helping her with her luggage, she lazily lay on her couch.

That weekend, Daphne received another call from Wilson. "Let's get our divorce certificate at the courthouse tomorrow. Don't forget."

She sneered. "If I remember correctly, didn't you want to get a lawyer to redistribute our assets? I said no, and you wanted me to leave without a dime. Why are you changing your mind now? Don't you want to do it anymore?"
