Chapter 83

“Forget about it. Let’s just go with our original plan,” Wilson said impatiently.

Daphne found it amusing. “I’m glad you can agree to that so casually, but I’m still curious. What made you change your mind so suddenly?”

“Because I want to end this marriage as soon as possible. The assets aren't that important to me. I just want to give Yvonne a proper identity. She can’t feel aggrieved anymore.”

“Very well. I hope you keep your promise and stop playing tricks. Let’s meet at the courthouse at 10:00 a.m. sharp tomorrow!”

Daphne ended the call with gritted teeth. When Wilson first hired a lawyer to redistribute the assets, she had been determined to buy time until he compromised. She had already circled the date they would collect the divorce certificate and hadn’t contacted Wilson because she believed he would give in first. After all, Yvonne was in more of a hurry than Daphne. Everything went according to Daphne’s predictions.

Daphne should have felt happy; she had won. However, she still felt a pang of hurt when she heard Wilson say Yvonne couldn’t feel aggrieved anymore. Why would Yvonne feel aggrieved? When rumors circulated about Daphne having a sugar daddy, Wilson never defended her. The rumors only stopped when they married. Conversely, he always protected Yvonne. Daphne should be the one feeling aggrieved.

Thinking how ridiculous it was, Daphne chuckled self-mockingly. However, it didn’t matter anymore. To her, taking half of Wilson’s assets and bidding him farewell forever was the best possible ending.

Daphne woke up early the next morning. It was a beautiful day. She played uplifting music while applying makeup, then put on a pink dress that looked elegant and dazzling.

Looking in the mirror, she was satisfied. Then, she had an idea and sent Sebastian a message:

“It’s a great day! I’m collecting my divorce certificate. If you’re free, would you like to witness the moment, Mr. Turner?”

Her message was cheeky. Sebastian replied immediately: “I’ll be happy to.” Her mood improved further.

The weather wasn't actually that good; the skies were covered with gray clouds. Usually, Daphne’s mood would be affected, but it felt like a sunny day to her, and there wasn’t a cloud in her mind.

No matter how bad her life had been, there was always someone there for her. Sebastian arrived on time, and when he saw her happily walking out, he felt happy too.

“You’re that happy, huh?” he said, reaching out to ruffle her hair.

Daphne coyly avoided his hand and glared at him. “Don’t touch my hair! I spent more than an hour styling it!”

“Alright! No touching the great celebrity’s hair. Got it! So, shall we leave now?” Sebastian chuckled as he opened the car door, buckled her seatbelt, then got in and started driving.

On the road, Daphne passionately recounted everything bad about Wilson, including how incredibly bland he was for protecting Yvonne, and she continued to chatter about it.
