Chapter 92
Wilson, engrossed in his work, noticed he hadn't heard from Yvonne. Puzzled, he looked up to see her sitting with her head bowed, on the verge of tears.
He sighed, put down his pen, and went to her. "What's wrong?"
Tears welled in Yvonne's eyes. Her voice trembled. "It's nothing."
"Tell me." Wilson's tone was intense. Yvonne felt a momentary pang of fear, but it seemed to trigger his protectiveness.
"Why are you crying?" he asked gently.
Yvonne shook her head, paused, and sighed. Gathering her courage, she said, "It's not much. I just feelwronged. I've waited so long, and I thought I could finally stand by your side publicly."
Wilson was surprised. Just then, Jackie knocked and entered with a glass of sparkling water.
"Mr. Farrell, this is the sparkling water Ms. Smith requested."
"Put it down," Wilson said, looking at Jackie indifferently. He wiped away Yvonne's tears and asked, "Tell me, what can I do to make you happy?"
Jackie, frightened, barely dared to breathe. He lowered his head, secretly observing Wilson and Yvonne.
Wilson truly adored Yvonne. Despite working at Farrell Group for so long, Jackie had never seen Wilson comfort his ex-wife like this.
"Can I ask for anything?" Yvonne asked cautiously.
"Of course," Wilson replied immediately.
Sniffling, Yvonne said, "Since the gown incident, I haven't made any public appearances. Since the Story contract ended, I haven't gotten any new endorsements or roles. My fanbase is dwindling."
"I want to be the brand ambassador for Sherry Group's perfume brand. Could you help me?"
"That's easy. I'll have someone handle it."
Yvonne shook her head. "Will, I'd like you to introduce me to the right contacts, but I want to handle the rest myself. I want to challenge myself and see if I can succeed without your help. Is that okay?"
"Sure. Come to me if you have problems."
"Thank you, Will," Yvonne said, nuzzling her face into his palm.
She knew the perfume brand had been considering Daphne. Yvonne wanted what Daphne had.
Wilson introduced her to Mike Braun, Sherry Group's vice president. Yvonne believed he held significant influence. She was confident she'd get the endorsement.
Daphne, busy establishing her new company, went to Sherry Group alone to discuss the endorsement. Joe Zimmer, the director of the perfume brand and her contact, personally greeted and escorted her.
On the way to his office, Joe hesitated. "Ms. Yeager, there may have been a change. We need to discuss it again."
Daphne's mind raced. Nothing seemed amiss.
"What happened? We had a good conversation yesterday."
"Ms. Smith came in this morning with her manager, insisting on negotiating for the ambassador role. I explained we'd already chosen someone, but she argued that without a signed contract, it wasn't finalized. She wants a chance, hinting at the Farrell family's support. But isn't the Farrell family on your side?"
