Chapter 127 Joining Them For Some Fun
Following her pointed finger, Andy spotted a man dressed in a blue jacket and sporting a pair of diamond earrings. The latterโs eyes and brows exuded an undeniable air of pride.
Feeling skeptical, Andy clarified, โAre you sure about choosing him?โ
Madelyn nodded. โYes, he is the one.โ
Following that, Madelyn went straight up to Josiah, grinning as she explained the situation to him.
โYou want me to join you in the race?โ Josiah asked, somewhat taken aback.
He was clearly just bored and came over to have some fun, not expecting that he would be chosen.
In the end, Madelyn nodded as if it were only natural. โThatโs right.โ
Josiah smacked his lips. โFine. I was bored anyway.โ
Adding to his inherent rebellious nature and love for thrill, heโd rather hang out there than be at home, where he was constantly nagged by his father to join the military.
โHowever, it wouldnโt look good on me if I were to readily agree.โ
With that, Josiah arrogantly lifted his chin, curling his lips into a smirk. โWhat do you take me for? Let me tell you, hiring me is quite expensive. Can you afford it?โ
Upon hearing the words, Madelyn chuckled to herself. Just as I expected. Given his rebellious nature, he certainly wouldnโt agree right away.
Nevertheless, she had a way to get him onboard.
Sure enough, Madelyn smiled generously and said, โIf we win, you can have the million. I wonโt take a dime. How does that sound?โ
โWhat?โ
Upon hearing these words, Josiahโs eyes lit up. This is too good to be true!
Unable to suppress his skepticism, he asked, โReally?โ
Madelyn replied with a laugh, โOf course.โ
โFine, itโs settled then! Youโd better not break your word,โ Josiah agreed instantly, beaming proudly.
Observing his expression, Madelyn inexplicably felt a surge of confidence. Even though the race hadnโt started yet, she could already feel that victory was within her grasp.
Meanwhile, Christopher was watching the two, his complexion unknowingly turning ashen.
Madelyn obviously saw it, but she sniggered to herself, pretending as if she hadnโt.
โAffirmative!โ The two individuals by his side nodded, stepping forward.
Both sides then found themselves in a stare down.
At that moment, an onlooker who was enjoying the spectacle couldnโt help but chuckle. โThis girl is done for.โ
โThe pair that Andy sent out are his ace drivers. Rumors has it that they havenโt lost a single race up until now.โ
โTskโtsk, it seems like she really has no choice but to cough up five million soon.โ
In an instant, a flurry of discussions erupted around them.
Upon hearing this, both Madelyn and Josiah were unfazed. No matter who their opponents were, they were certain of their victory.
Meanwhile, Andy was quite pleased with himself. What do these two kids know about driving? They might as well just hand over the five million!
Following that, Andy announced, โAlright, you two can choose your car now. Any car here is available. Just pick whichever you fancy.โ
Madelyn, however, flatly refused, โNo, in the interest of fairness, we wonโt use your car.โ
If they had tampered with the car, wouldnโt defeat be inevitable?
After she finished speaking, she turned to Josiah and asked, โDid you bring your car? Letโs use yours.โ
โHow did you know I have a car?โ Josiah couldnโt help but express his surprise.
โIsnโt it obvious? Doesnโt everyone who comes here have a car?โ Madelyn said with a laugh.
Josiah saw that she had a point, so he nonchalantly nodded, saying, โOkay.โ
Following that, he headed toward the driverโs seat of his car.
โWait!โ Madelyn suddenly grabbed hold of him again.
Josiah couldnโt help but furrow his brows, turning to ask, โWhat else do you want?โ
The smiling Madelyn replied, โYou take the passenger seat. Iโll drive!โ
โWhat?โ Josiah was dumbfounded.
Suddenly feeling as if he had been played, he snapped, โHey! You little brat, if you donโt want to give me a million, you couldโve just said so. Thereโs no need for this.โ
Madelyn, however, found it amusing. โDo you really think so little of me?โ
Nodding, Josiah didnโt bother to hide his feelings. โYes, I do look down on you. There arenโt many women in the world who can race, and look at you, so delicate and tender. How can you handle the car? If I had known earlier that youโd be driving I would have definitely refused to be your partner!โ
When did you become such a busybody, Josiah? Where did all this nonsense come from? You were never this annoying before!
With that thought in mind, she seized the moment when Josiah was distracted, swiftly opened the car door, and pushed him into the passenger seat. With a commanding tone, she ordered, โJust sit tight and trust me.โ
โWhat?โ
Upon hearing these words, Josiah almost burst a vessel. What on earth is up with this woman?
Before he could even say a word, he saw Madelyn swiftly move to the other side of the car. She opened the car door and smoothly got in.
At this point, the sky had already turned completely dark.
After getting into the car, Madelyn decisively released the handbrake, shifted into gear, and promptly turned on the lowโbeam headlights.
Then, with practiced ease, she pressed on the accelerator. The car gradually started moving toward the racetrack.
Meanwhile, Josiah watched the scene unfold with astonishment.
His car was a special piece, personally customized to his taste. Normally, he treasured it so much that he wouldnโt even let anyone touch it.
As it turned out, Madelyn seemed to know it so well, as if the car was her own.
Naturally, Madelyn noticed his astonished expression, which made her burst into laughter.
In her previous life, she often raced everywhere in Josiahโs car. She was familiar with every nook and cranny of it, just as much as Josiah was.
So, sitting in the car then, it felt not only familiar but also incredibly comforting.
In no time at all, the race was about to begin.
Two cars were parked at the starting line, with a model holding two flags, standing in the middle and waiting.
From outside, Andy shouted, โIn this race, youโll be racing to reach the same finish line within the allotted time. The first one past the post wins. Do you understand?โ
At this point, Josiah was no longer as skeptical of Madelyn as he had been earlier.
But still, he couldnโt help but warn, โListen carefully, you d*mn girl, if we lose and I end up losing a million, I swear Iโll kill you!โ
Upon hearing these words, Madelyn couldnโt help but laugh. Sheesh, even his threats are so endearing.
Following that, she confidently stated, โOkay, just wait to collect your reward.โ
Josiah scoffed coldly.
Upon hearing the word โget readyโ, Madelyn gripped the steering wheel tighter, her gaze becoming even more resolute.
This time, she had to win.
โGo!โ
As the words fell, the flag waved down in front of their car.
The two cars shot off into the night.
