Chapter 268 Hoping Nothing Goes Wrong
In the evening, everything proceeded according to plan.
This time, Grimo mobilized quite a number of people. All his subordinates were uniformly dressed in black, indicating that a major operation was about to take place.
Madelyn disguised herself as one of his subordinates and blended into the crowd, moving cautiously with the group.
The abandoned Red Cross Hospital building had been left untouched ever since the city underwent renovation. It was located in the suburbs where no one went. The ruined corridors appeared eerily sinister, an embodiment of uncanny desolation.
Madelyn couldnโt help but feel a chill run down her spine.
She recalled the horror movies she used to watch, where many terrifying events took place in eerie hospitals, morgues, and desolate corridors, where the fluorescent lights emitted a cold and chilling glow.
In those horror movies, the sudden appearance of a bleeding, severed head always sent chills down her spine. There were also white-clad ghosts drifting about the hospital. Those unnerving scenes never failed to send goosebumps crawling all over Madelynโs skin.
Grimo noticed her stiff expression and immediately asked in a lowered voice, โWhatโs wrong with you?โ
โIs this place haunted?โ Madelyn asked timidly.
Grimo was tickled pink. โGhosts donโt exist in this world. Even if they do, there are so many strong men here to protect you."
Madelyn glanced at the numerous subordinates around her and felt at ease. She then began to analyze the current situation.
At that moment, they were discreetly positioned on a nearby hill, taking advantage of the high ground to have a clear view of the situation outside the abandoned hospital.
The towering building was clearly occupied by now, with numerous underlings stationed outside, patrolling the nearby area with their weapons. The atmosphere was incredibly tense. It was evident that Hellfire Creed was well-prepared.
A man and a woman stood next to the window.
The man was dressed in dark attire, his mouth and nose huge, yet he exuded the imposing aura of a leader.
The woman was dressed like an enchantress, her low-cut dress billowing like a wave. Her seductive and graceful figure seemed to be specifically designed to enhance her enchanting charm.
She was none other than Violet.
Adelar quickly lowered his binoculars and reported to Grimo, โBoss, the one holding down the fort tonight is one of Hellfire Creedโs leaders named Bryce Johnson. Heโs far more capable than the last leader we encountered. Rumor has it that his rise to power was due to his ruthless and fierce nature. Oh, and Violet is here tooโฆโ
Adelar consciously lowered his voice when mentioning Violetโs name, fearing that Grimo might lose his temper.
Fortunately, although Grimo was infuriated, he didnโt take it out on his subordinate.
He picked up the binoculars immediately, and in an instant, he spotted Bryce, the leader of Hellfire Creed, and the traitor, Violet, standing not far away.
At that moment, the two seemed to be engaged in casual conversation. Violet, standing next to Bryce, was laughing heartily.
Grimo observed them, his expression immediately turning gloomy.
He had long since known that Violet was a defector who had sided with Hellfire Creed. However, witnessing Violet colluding with Hellfire Creed with his own eyes still upset him.
Meanwhile, Madelyn was anxiously awaiting the arrival of Sebastian and his gang. Staring at the guards at the hospital entrance, she quietly prayed in her heart.
Itโll be a chaotic night. All I hope is that Sebastian will be fine.
An hour passed by as they waited.
No one dared to let their guard down. Everyone, as if rehearsed, instinctively remained vigilant.
Several dark green off-road vehicles finally arrived, their headlights casting a dim yellow glow as they approached the hospital, causing quite a commotion. The guards at the hospital entrance immediately raised their guns, cautious and poised to strike.
Grimo whispered, โTheyโre here.โ
Madelynโs expression hardened. She immediately snatched the binoculars from Grimoโs hand to take a look.
Sure enough, several off-road vehicles gradually approached from a distance. Their dim headlights were particularly noticeable in the suburban nightfall. Madelynโs heart immediately leaped into her throat.
Next, the car pulled up to the hospital entrance and came to a halt. As expected, the first one to step out was indeed Sebastian.
Madelyn instantly became anxious. Her breathing quickened, and it felt as if her heart was about to leap out from her chest.
โTo ensure everyoneโs safety, please hand over your weapons,โ the guard at the entrance demanded, his gun pointed directly at Sebastianโs head.
Sebastian was decidedly displeased with the guardโs action, and his gaze darkened.
However, he knew he was there to negotiate and was in no place to bargain. Thus, he reluctantly handed over his firearms. His subordinates had no choice but to follow suit.
Only after the guards had confirmed that Sebastian was indeed unarmed and posed no threat, did they feel at ease. They then allowed the group to proceed.
Sebastian strode in without hesitation.
Under the guidance of Bryceโs subordinates, Sebastian quickly arrived at the negotiation site.
A rectangular table was situated in the room, flanked by chairs adorned with intricate dragon motifs. At that moment, Bryce and Violet were seated at the table, accompanied by a few of their subordinates.
Upon seeing Sebastian, Bryce immediately put on a charming smile. โMr. Lockhart, Iโve heard a lot about you. Itโs indeed a pleasure to finally meet you today!โ
Sebastian knew that Bryce was merely feigning civility. He couldnโt be bothered with the small talk and said coldly, โNo need for such false courtesy. Just tell me, how can I get my subordinate back?โ
โExcellent! I admire your straightforwardness!โ Bryce suddenly burst into hearty laughter, clapping his hands with gusto.
โBut Mr. Lockhart, you should understand the principle of quid pro quo, right? I can return your subordinate to you, but whereโs what I want?โ Bryceโs smile faded.
Sebastian paid him no heed, an icy arrogance radiating from him, instantly overshadowing Bryceโs imposing manner. โBring me my subordinate, then weโll proceed with the transaction.โ
Bryce was clearly displeased and immediately argued. โIโll inspect the goods before handing your subordinate over to you!โ
โWhat nonsense are you talking about?โ Sebastian calmly stated, his demeanor cool yet powerful. โI must ensure the safety of my subordinate before I can give you what you want. If heโs in horrible condition because you tormented him, Iโd rather burn the things you want than give them to you.โ
Bryce was initially dissatisfied, but Sebastianโs icy stare bore down on him like a massive glacier, utterly irresistible.
In the end, he had no choice but to compromise. He gestured to his subordinates, โBring him over!โ
โUnderstood!โ His subordinate responded promptly, immediately carrying out the orders.
