Chapter 269 Stop At Nothing

A person, drenched in blood, was dragged up.

With his head hung low, he was clearly at deathโ€™s door, though he seemed to still cling to his last breath. However, the injuries on his body were enough to prove the brutal torment he had endured.

At that moment, upon seeing Sebastian, the man reacted as if he had seen his savior. He strained his hoarse throat to cry out desperately, โ€œMr. Lockhart, save meโ€ฆโ€

Yet, no sound came out no matter how hard he tried.

Sebastianโ€™s gaze darkened, a chill enveloping his entire body. The pressure around him seemed to drop noticeably.

Hellfire Creed is shockingly brutal. Had I not chosen to negotiate today, my subordinate might have already lost his life.

At that moment, Harriet could hardly contain her fury as she witnessed her friend in this miserable state. โ€œIt was bad enough that you took him captive; why on earth would you hurt him?โ€ she demanded.

This man held a high-ranking position in the overseas company. His relationship with Harriet had long surpassed that of superior and subordinate; it was more like friendship.

Seeing her friend so grievously injured, she was understandably filled with rage.

Members of Hellfire Creed exchanged glances, filled with guilt.

Bryce resorted to being unreasonable, scoffing, โ€œLittle lady, you canโ€™t say that. Wasnโ€™t it you who sought us out and attacked us just a few days ago? Weโ€™re not exactly saints ourselves. Since we finally got a hold of a hostage, itโ€™s only fair to give you a taste of your own medicine. Besides, we only taught him a lesson. Itโ€™s not like heโ€™s dead.โ€

After saying that, he unceremoniously aimed a kick at the man.

The man was already covered in blood, his body riddled with wounds. He let out a cry of pain after getting kicked, nearly passing out from the sheer agony.

โ€œSee? Heโ€™s still alive, isnโ€™t he?โ€ said members of Hellfire Creed with smug looks on their faces.

โ€œAre you even human?โ€ Harrietโ€™s fury boiled over.

Theyโ€™re ruthless psychopaths!

Bryce sneered. โ€œHuman? I donโ€™t know what that is. All I know is that I want what you have. Letโ€™s make a simple exchange. You hand over my things, and Iโ€™ll spare this personโ€™s life: What do you say?โ€

Suddenly, Sebastian let out a cold huff.

Everyone instantly fell silent, their eyes fixed on this revered, noble man.

โ€œLike I said,โ€ Sebastian said, his lips barely moving, his voice icy enough to send shivers down oneโ€™s spine. โ€œIf you torture my subordinate to the brink of death, Iโ€™d rather destroy what you want than give it to you.โ€

โ€œThereโ€™s nothing I donโ€™t dare to do in this world.โ€ Sebastian scoffed, not paying him any mind.

โ€œThen Iโ€™ll just kill him!โ€ Left without a choice, Bryce aimed a knife at the subordinate who was already drenched in blood.

โ€œNo, stop!โ€ Harriet cried out, her face drained of color.

Seeing that they had leverage over Sebastian and his gang, the members of Hellfire Creed put on smug smiles. โ€œIf you want him alive, hand over the goods. As per our agreement, weโ€™ll exchange him for the goods. We wonโ€™t go back on our word.โ€

Seeing that there was no other solution at the moment, Harriet could only look at Sebastian helplessly. โ€œSebastian, this man has been working in the overseas company for over a decade. Heโ€™s a senior executive and the employees trust and depend on him. We canโ€™t let him die like this.โ€

Meanwhile, on the hill not too far away, Madelyn set down her binoculars and asked, โ€œGrimo, what exactly are they trading?โ€

Grimo shook his head. โ€œIโ€™m not sure either. Weโ€™ll just have to see how things go.โ€

Left with no choice, Madelyn nodded and continued to wait in silence.

As time ticked away, everyone held their breaths, focusing their full attention on the unfolding situation.

The transaction seemed to be ongoing at this point. Madelyn, through her binoculars, saw the members of Hellfire Creed ushering the hostage a few steps forward.

All of a sudden, a knife was plunged into the hostageโ€™s abdomen.

Madelynโ€™s eyes widened in shock.

In an instant, the sound of deafening gunfire echoed like a series of thunderous roars in continuous bombardment.

Apparently, the deal had fallen through.

Madelynโ€™s heart started racing, and almost instinctively, she drew her handgun from her waist, ready to take action.

Grimo quickly grabbed her hand. โ€œCalm down.โ€

โ€œWhat are we waiting for? Theyโ€™ve started fighting!โ€ Madelyn couldnโ€™t keep her cool. Sebastian and his men had all their guns confiscated. How are they going to fight back!

Madelyn had only one thought in her mindโ€”to rush forward that very moment and eliminate all those who posed a threat to Sebastianโ€™s safety.

โ€œAre you out of your mind?โ€ Grimo quickly tried to dissuade her. โ€œDo you really think your fiancรฉ would be foolish enough to come here unprepared, essentially walking into his own death?โ€

Madelyn was taken aback by that question.

Grimo handed her the binoculars. โ€œTake a closer look.โ€

Madelyn quickly picked up the binoculars to take a look.

Just as Grimo had predicted, Sebastian indeed came prepared.

Suddenly, a large group of people appeared out of nowhere. They knocked down all the guards at the entrance and stormed into the hospital.

A flurry of gunshots echoed.

Madelynโ€™s heart felt as if it were precariously hanging by a thread as she fixed her eyes on the situation unfolding in the building.

Fortunately, after the reinforcements arrived, they opened fire, successfully rescuing Sebastian and the others. Evidently, they were more than capable of handling the situation.

Madelyn could finally breathe a sigh of relief.

However, at that moment, Adelar suddenly said, โ€œBoss, look there! Thereโ€™s a sniper!โ€

Grimo looked in the direction Adelar pointed, his gaze turning grim. โ€œMadelyn, theyโ€™re likely targeting your fiancรฉ.โ€

What?

Madelynโ€™s heart skipped a beat. Looking in the direction Adelar indicated, she indeed spotted a dark figure crouched on high ground in the distance, holding a sniper rifle and aiming at Sebastian.

Clearly, the members of Hellfire Creed understood the strategy of targeting the leader first. As long as they could take down the head of their enemy group, Sebastian, their deal would be considered successful.

Madelyn couldnโ€™t possibly remain calm upon seeing that.

Theyโ€™re despicable! Devious! Theyโ€™ll stop at nothing! No! I canโ€™t sit back and do nothing!

On the spot, she seized the sniper rifle from Adelarโ€™s grasp then steadily positioned it on the ground. She looked through the scope, aiming at the sniper.

Adelarโ€™s heart pounded with anxiety. โ€œMs. Thornton this is a sniper rifle, not just any ordinary gun! Do you know how to use it?โ€

Madelyn ignored him. At such a critical moment, she couldnโ€™t even bother to answer his question. She simply aimed the gun directly at the manโ€™s head, slowly squeezing the trigger, ready to fire.

Her hand trembled slightly.

She had never pointed a gun at a living person before.

However, if she did not take action, Sebastian would be the one to lose his life.
