Chapter 343: The Only Outcome Is Death
โSebastian, youโre not planning to go against the Oceanic Empire, are you?โ he asked in surprise.
Sebastian scoffed. โMadelyn is my fiancรฉe. I simply want to take her home. How dare those Oceanic Empire jerks take her from me?โ His expression was filled with determination, exuding unmistakable intimidation.
Grime found his reaction interesting and said, โAll right then. Since that girl has helped me in the past, Iโll help you this once.โ He summoned Adelar and instructed, โAdelar, if Iโm not mistaken, weโve been collaborating frequently with the Oceanic Empire, right? It shouldnโt be difficult for us to locate their headquarters.โ
Adelar nodded slightly. โYes. Every time we transported guns there, we could reach the outskirts of their headquarters, butโฆ we couldnโt get in.โ
Sebastian had predicted that. After all, it was a global organization. How could they possibly let a stranger in without reason? However, knowing the location of the headquarters was enough for him.
Grime ordered, โAdelar, assign someone to investigate this matter. You must cooperate fully with Mr. Lockhart. Report to me at once if there are any developments.โ
โUnderstood,โ Adelar acknowledged.
Sebastian gave a slight nod of gratitude before leaving with his assistant and the others.
Meanwhile, at the Oceanic Empire headquarters, Madelyn wandered aimlessly inside a base resembling a space capsule. After a brief exploration, Phantom led her into a place akin to a secret tunnel. It was incredibly dark inside, like a subterranean cave, so much so that she couldnโt see a thing. Frightened, she instinctively gripped Phantomโs sleeve. With chills running down her spine, she asked, โWhy did you bring me here? Morgana shouldnโt be in a place like this, right? Is it haunted inside?โ
Phantom laughed at her fear. โItโs not only haunted, but there are also all sorts of monsters in there. Youโre as good as dead once you go in.โ
Madelyn, no fool, knew he was teasing. She felt somewhat at ease, her fear subsiding. However, she couldnโt shake off the lingering discomfort in her heart. Whatโs with all this? Itโs just a meeting. Why make it so mysterious?
As Madelyn pondered, a door at the end of the dark corridor swung open, casting a beam of light toward her, exposing her to the glaring brightness. It didnโt take long before they walked through the door.
Madelyn finally saw the legendary Morgana, though her face was concealed by a tilted, lace-adorned hat, revealing only her red lips. Her aura, however, differed from Madelynโs past impersonation; her gender was impossible to discern. Rumors circulated that Morgana was a devil.
However, the Morgana before her wore a black suit and black lace gloves. Her figure was graceful, though her chest was flat. She was probably a little over 170 centimeters tall. Her figure wasn't quite masculine, yet it wasn't entirely feminine either. It could have belonged to a man or a woman.
โAre you the young lady pretending to be me?โ A deep, metallic voice pierced the air.
Madelyn shuddered. She had intended to discern Morganaโs gender by her voice, but she seemed too naive. Morgana used a metallic voice changer, making her voice sound eerily ethereal, like an alien.
โI am,โ Madelyn responded, forcing calmness. In truth, she was filled with trepidation; the real Morgana exuded an overpowering aura. Even in her past life, all she knew about Morgana was that she was incredibly mysterious and powerful, to the point of being terrifying. However, regarding her true appearance, Madelyn had no idea. Madelyn had thought her own aura powerful when impersonating Morgana, but now, seeing the real deal, she understood that an aura capable of obliterating everything truly existed. The more she thought about it, the more terrified she became, causing goosebumps to crawl all over her skin.
โLift your head. Let me take a good look at you,โ commanded the metallic voice.
Madelyn dared not disobey. Slowly, she lifted her chin and stared directly at Morgana. Then, feigning composure, she asked, โMay I know why you sought me out?โ
Morgana laughed coldly. โIโve heard a lot about you from Phantom. He said that you have quite the nerve and arenโt afraid to fend anyone or say anything. Now it seems, itโs true.โ
Madelyn swallowed, wondering if she had spoken out of turn. Morgana laughed again. โBut thatโs good, though. Youโre interesting, and I like it. I despise cowardly and boring people. Congratulations, you didnโt disappoint me.โ
Phantom secretly sighed in relief; anyone who disappointed Morgana had only one fateโdeath. Madelyn had dodged a bullet.
Madelyn felt undeserving of the praise and smiled modestly. โMaโamโฆ Oh, I mean, Sirโฆ No, thatโs not right either. Anyway, you flatter me.โ
Phantom was momentarily speechless. Canโt this girl think before she speaks?
Fortunately, Morgana merely chuckled and didnโt mind. Without wasting any more time, she said, โDonโt worry, I wonโt harm you. I called you here because thereโs something I need to ask of you. If you can help with this matter, then youโll become a part of the Oceanic Empire, and Iโll give you special treatment. Iโll allow you to utilize any resources you want.โ
Madelynโs heart hammered. Morgana needs my help? Is she after money? Iโm just a wealthy heiress. My familyโs wealth is insignificant to the extremely wealthy Oceanic Empire. If sheโs after power, then Iโm completely useless.
Madelyn was truly at a loss. She couldnโt figure out how she could possibly be of any use to Morgana.
