Dexter sighed. "Licia is still holding a grudge against us."
Myra was a little angry. "She's so ungrateful! What have we done to deserve this? We've given her everything she deserves. I've tried to please her, and she refuses to get close to me. She won't even call me 'Mom!'"
Kayla clung to their arms, acting coy while subtly criticizing Licia. "But I'm here, right? I won't hold a grudge against you like she does!"
"Yes, you've always been considerate," Dexter and Myra replied.
"Hehe," Kayla giggled.
Downstairs, warmth and laughter filled the air. Upstairs, Sebastian knocked on Felicia's door.
"Sebastian, is something wrong?" Felicia asked, opening the door and gesturing him inside.
He sat on the small stool before her vanity. Looking at her innocent expression, he couldn't contain himself. Poking her forehead, he said impatiently, "Why don't you want them?"
She was taken aback by his reaction. He had never shown her such affection or tenderness in her previous life. Back then, she had been insecure and never dared to approach him. She could only watch Kayla unabashedly act spoiled with their parents and brother, secretly envying her, even to the point of tears.
In Felicia's previous life, Dexter had offered shares, but only to Kayla. As his "adopted daughter," Felicia received nothing. Sebastian was present but remained silent, offering no support.
Lost in these memories, Felicia's reverie was broken by another poke to her forehead and Sebastian's voice. "Are you stupid? You were offered shares and didn't want them? You've got too much money, huh? I'll go talk to Mom and Dad. If they give away the shares, they'll have to give them to both of you. If not, no one gets anything! I'll fight for you if you're not fighting for what's yours!"
Sebastian blurted this all out in one breath, then fell silent, regretting his harshness and heavy tone. But looking down, he saw Felicia's radiant smile.
"Thank you, Sebastian," she said sincerely. Her usually distant, polite smile now held genuine warmth.
For a moment, he felt dazed. His anger dissipated, replaced by the unexpected thought: Felicia was truly beautiful. He wondered who would be lucky enough to win her heart.
It was strange. Kayla, his sister for eighteen years, felt little more than a slightly closer stranger upon her return. Yet, the moment he saw Felicia, he immediately recognized her. Their blood kinship was undeniable, a natural resemblance evident in their faces. This unbreakable bond instantly shortened the distance between them. He sighed, gently patting her head. "It's okay. I'm on your side."
