Listen to this chapter:

Melvin suddenly dropped to his knees with a loud thud. The bustling cafeteria fell silent. Everyone was dumbfounded, their jaws dropping in disbelief. Hearts raced as they struggled to comprehend the unfolding scene.

Hidden in the crowd, Kayla gasped, her face reflecting utter disbelief. She thought, "Had he lost his mind? Or was he possessed?"

Melvin ignored the onlookers. His father was dying, and with Clive out of the country, only Felicia could save Hubert. Holding back tears, he pleaded, "Please, help my dad. I'll even bow to you."

Just an hour ago, he'd sent people to intimidate Felicia. Days before, he'd even had Lance kidnap her, hoping she'd disappear. Expecting humiliation and revenge, he was astonished when she simply said, "Lead the way."

"Huh?" Melvin was stunned, tears welling in his eyes. Felicia, already starting to walk away, turned back to see him still standing there and repeated, "Lead the way."

"Oh, okay." Melvin snapped back to reality. He quickly wiped his tears and followed her. A car waited at the cafeteria entrance; he opened the door for her. As they drove away, the stunned onlookers remained speechless.

Someone murmured, piecing together the events: "So, Melvin hated Felicia, tried to get rid of her, but now his dad's in danger and only she can help?"

"Wow, what's Felicia's background?" The crowd turned to Kayla, who ground her teeth in frustration.

She replied softly, "I have no idea..."

Kayla had heard whispers of Felicia's frequent visits to the Walsh residence, even rumors of Clive naming her his successor and heiress. Initially, she'd dismissed it as laughable. Now, she realized the truth. She had underestimated Felicia, failing to grasp the extent of her background. This new knowledge only strengthened her resolve to see Felicia eliminated.

The car stopped before Harmony Medical Center. Melvin rushed to open the door for Felicia. Her injuries, still unhealed, slowed her ascent of the steps. Melvin felt frantic but dared not hurry her, knowing her injuries were his fault.

Hubert had collapsed outside the center. Medical staff rushed him inside and summoned a physician. Strangely, his pulse was steady, showing no signs of illness. The first physician, suspecting an oversight, called in another expert. After five or six physicians examined him, they all reached the same conclusion: everything was fine.
