Listen to this chapter:

The atmosphere inside was heavy. Maurice’s trusted men, two of whom were wide-eyed and pacing anxiously, appeared despairing. On the bed, Maurice lay with his eyes shut, his forehead veins bulging, his expression contorted in pain.

His men, completely helpless, looked to Felicia as their savior the moment she entered, their gazes burning with hope. She sighed, waving a hand. "Leave the room. I'll handle this."

The men exchanged glances before departing.

Scarlet glanced around. There wasn’t much she could do. Besides, they were about to set sail, and much remained to prepare. Maurice’s men had prepared the ship, but she preferred to handle her clothing and weapons personally.

"Boss, I'll stow our things and grab a few supplies. Call me if you need anything, okay?" Scarlet hummed.

"Alright, go ahead. Be careful," Felicia replied, retrieving her needle kit to treat Maurice.

Scarlet slipped away quietly.

With no distractions, the suite fell silent. Every rustle of fabric was amplified in the stillness. Felicia spread out her needle kit and selected three needles. Just as she was about to begin acupuncture, the figure on the bed turned.

Their eyes met. For a brief moment, Felicia saw something flicker in Maurice’s eyes; he seemed to have regained some consciousness.

Back at Mount Farstone, Pate, seeking to prove his sincerity, had ordered the cloaked man to subdue the venomous creature. They dared not trifle, and Maurice was given a few days to recover. During this time, the creature took its toll, but Maurice gradually regained consciousness, no longer fully controlled. And now, that moment seemed to have arrived.

Felicia paused, asking, "Do you still remember who you are, Mr. Glovers?"

Maurice blinked, then froze. He remained silent.

Felicia sighed, placing the needle back in its case. Without warning, she smacked him across the face. "Are you done staring? I'm charging you next time."

Maurice lowered his gaze, concealing the glint in his eyes. When he looked at Felicia again, his expression was normal, though his voice remained hoarse. "Felicia, did you agree to set sail for me?"

Felicia was speechless. There was no easy response.

After a long silence, she sighed. "Weren't you under control at the time? But you heard that?"

"Yes." Maurice didn't ask how Felicia knew he had borne her pain using the venomous creature. Things had progressed too far. Her presence here meant she had pieced everything together.

Similarly, though controlled at Mount Farstone, he hadn’t lost his hearing and could still understand Felicia’s deal with Pate. She had agreed to set sail to save him. By that logic, she was doing this for him. If he were a dog, his tail would be wagging. He processed the events around him; he hadn’t been able to respond, but he had.
