There was no way Talia would admit to being a murderer. She yelled, "You darn wench! Who are you to point fingers at others? Roberta died in your arms! That makes you the biggest suspect among us! Yet, you're trying to accuse us now?"
Kayla looked resigned. "Felicia, Roberta and I were not on bad terms. Why would I want to kill her? Even if you don't like me, you can't falsely accuse me." She made it sound as if Felicia's accusation stemmed from a personal vendetta.
Felicia had to admit Kayla was exceptionally skilled at feigning innocence and misleading others. She had no intention of arguing with Kayla and Talia, so she turned her gaze toward Roberta, lying on the bed.
Roberta's last words echoed in Felicia's mind: "Aunt Felicia, the weather is so lovely today... The day I met you happened to be my birthday. I prayed to the heavens, hoping they'd save me. You appeared at that very moment... I've betrayed you once, but that won't happen a second time. I've accomplished that now... Thank you for being the light in my life. I don't have the strength to continue fighting..."
Felicia closed her eyes briefly. Then, she looked at Clive. "Grandpa, gather everyone. I will prove these two murderers' evil deeds!"
Previously, Clive would never have agreed. Exposing such a scandalous family matter was unthinkable. However, a life was lost, and Roberta had been killed by Clive's poison. The culprit needed to be caught.
Clive drew a long breath and quickly made his decision.
Kayla and Talia exchanged a shocked, uneasy glance after hearing Felicia's words. Felicia's claim of proof, and her desire to present it publicly, made them question her sincerity.
Talia quickly protested, "Grandpa, do you believe what that wench is saying? She obviously has a hidden agenda! She's trying to break our family apart!"
Kayla added, "Grandpa, the Walsh family's reputation, and yours, will be tainted if this gets out. We should catch the murderer, of course, but we can't make a scene... Besides, Felicia is under suspicion too. Even if she found the killer, would anyone believe her?" Kayla implied Felicia's actions were hypocritical, suggesting she might be the perpetrator.
Clive's expression darkened. Ignoring Kayla, he instructed his butler, Gerald Stinson, to summon Noah's family and Jake. Gerald acknowledged the instruction, but Clive added, "Wait. Tell the Fullers to come as well." "Understood," Gerald replied, hurrying off.
Kayla's heart sank, her fingers curling into a fist. She worried, "What if Felicia really has proof? What would Mom and Dad think? Will I... get kicked out of the Fuller residence?" Talia felt a similar panic.
Despite Roberta's illegitimacy and lack of acceptance within the Walsh family, she shared their blood.
At Clive's command, a simple wake room was prepared.
While others prepared, Kayla whispered, "Didn't you say the plan was foolproof? How did it come to this?" "How am I supposed to know?" Talia retorted, her indignation rising. She hadn't foreseen Roberta's retaliation. Talia possessed photos and videos of Roberta's assault, and had Roberta's mother confined. These "trump cards" ensured Roberta's compliance, yet Roberta had poisoned Felicia instead of following Talia's instructions.
