Revenge Forged in Prison

Chapter 124: He Is Waking Up

A few hours earlier, the police had arrived at the Quixall residence. Given that the incident involving Caleb occurred close to the Quixall residence, and considering that George was Caleb’s foster father, the police promptly headed there as their first port of call.

“Mr. Quixall, are you aware that your adopted son, Caleb, was involved in a car accident?”

Walden Tucker’s expression was incredibly stern, his aura of authority so strong that it deterred anyone from lying. Initially, George was shaken, but then he sadly lowered his head.

“What? Caleb was in an accident? Which hospital is he at? I need to see him!”

He rushed towards the door as if he’d lost his mind, but Walden swiftly reached out to stop him.

“Currently, your adopted son is being treated. The doctor will do his utmost to save him. Please, try not to worry!”

George breathed a sigh of relief, yet his eyes welled up with tears.

“My son has had a very tough life. When he was released from prison, I remember telling him that he must behave himself and never disregard the traffic rules again. Who would have known? In just a few days, he was involved in another car accident. This time, he is the one who ended up in the hospital…”

Walden didn’t pay much attention to the affairs of the elite, and that day was the first time he handled a case related to Caleb.

“Has Mr. Jenkins been in a car accident before?”

George repeatedly nodded.

“Yeah, five years ago, he killed someone while driving drunk and ended up serving a few years in prison.”

Before Walden could even speak, the young assistant beside him couldn’t help but interrupt, “I’m surprised he was released so quickly after killing someone.”

George gave the assistant a look of surprise. “The sentence was for five years. As for the details, I’m not sure.”

Walden shot the assistant a glare. “Don’t speak out of turn during an investigation.”

The assistant reluctantly fell silent.

What I said was the truth. A car accident resulting in a fatality wouldn’t typically be resolved quickly. Moreover, Caleb had been drinking at the time, which constituted drunk driving. According to the law, anyone who kills someone while drunk driving and then flees the scene should serve a minimum of seven years in prison. How could it be possible for someone to be released after only five years? Unless he has significant achievements or had shown good behavior while in prison. Could a scion from a wealthy family, who lived a life of luxury every day, possibly accept his punishment willingly? This whole situation is truly strange, but Mr. Tucker won’t allow me to speak the truth…

Chapter 124: He Is Waking Up

Walden continued to inquire, “Does Mr. Jenkins have any enemies?”

George thought carefully.

“Caleb was kind-hearted, and after his time in prison, he turned over a new leaf. It’s unlikely that anyone would be out to get him.”

Walden suddenly asked, “So, you’re suggesting that this was an accident?”

George couldn’t quite grasp his intention. “Right… Are you telling me that someone is out to harm him?”

Upon hearing this, Deborah couldn’t help but burst into tears.

“Caleb has just returned, yet he’s already leaving us before he had the chance to properly enjoy his freedom. How are we supposed to go on without him?”

Walden comforted her, “Please, don’t cry. From what I know, a suitable blood donor has already been found. Mr. Jenkins will be waking up soon.”

Deborah ceased her crying.

“He’s waking up soon?”

Her expression seemed odd, and Walden managed to glean something from it.

“He is, yet you’re not happy?”

Upon hearing these words, George could hear alarm bells ringing in his head. He secretly pinched himself hard, the pain causing tears to slip from the corners of his eyes.

“Of course we’re happy! Caleb is our eldest son. If he were to die, who else could possibly take over the family business?”

Walden asked, “Apart from Mr. Jenkins, how many children do you have?”

“There are two more. I only have three children in total…”

Tears fell from Deborah’s eyes once again, leaving streaks on her entire face.
