Chapter 137: Out of My Mind

Chelsea cast a glance over her shoulder, playfully blinking her eyes. Upon seeing this, Gianna suddenly felt a weight lift off her heart. Regardless, no matter how bad the situation was, it couldn’t possibly get worse.

Rather than watching Caleb suffer again, it would be better to let Chelsea take him away. This way, he would be spared from the torment inflicted by the Quixall family.

The moment George laid eyes on Chelsea, he was thrown into disarray. When Chelsea declared her intention to take Caleb away, George was left even more at a loss.

“Ms. Yardley, Chen is my child. Initially, I was out of my mind when I said I would hand him over to you. Now, I realize my mistake. Could you…”

Chelsea’s face turned cold in an instant. “So, are you saying you want to back out now?”

“I…” George truly regretted his past decisions. Had he known that this day would come, he wouldn’t have let Caleb go. If Caleb were to be taken away by the Yardley family, his risky actions would immediately lose their significance.

After a fierce internal struggle and weighing the importance of his family and his son, George eventually admitted defeat. “Ms. Yardley, feel free to take Caleb with you. I won’t stand in your way.”

Only then did Chelsea reveal a satisfied smile. “I need to make some preparations before I can complete his hospital transfer procedures. Before that, I’m leaving him here. No one, and I mean no one, is allowed to lay a finger on him, let alone move him elsewhere, understand?”

George repeatedly agreed, reassuring, “Ms. Yardley, don’t worry. The Quixall family will certainly honor our agreement. We won’t act recklessly.”

Chelsea gave a nod, flashing Gianna a playful smile before she stepped out of the hospital room, her high heels clicking against the floor.

Facing the opposition of an influential family, George dared not entertain any more unrealistic thoughts. He hurriedly left with Deborah and Yelena. Nevertheless, he still held some resentment in his heart. If it hadn’t been for that b*tch, Gianna, standing in his way, he would have taken Caleb away a long time ago. Unexpectedly, a mere moment’s delay led to an unforeseen incident. Just like that, he would be interrogated by the police for attempted murder, taking a risk yet unable to reap any benefits. What rotten luck.

She was truly terrified, not anticipating at all that George would actually lodge a complaint to her father. Thankfully, Chelsea had arrived. Otherwise, she wouldn’t dare imagine how things would have unfolded.

As she sat on the edge of the bed, her expression held a touch of sadness. “Caleb, since Ms. Yardley has spoken such words, she will surely come to take you away in a few days. By then, seeing you won’t be as easy as it is today,” Gianna sniffled. “Let’s not talk about this anymore. Ms. Yardley has brought you flowers and nourishing supplements. With her assistance, your injuries should heal a bit quicker, shouldn’t they?”

Her smile was genuine and endearing. “Caleb, I hope that after you leave me, you can lead a happy life. After all, we won’t be able to see each other in the days to come.”

As Gianna nibbled on the leftover bun, her beautiful eyes welled up with tears, making her look quite pitiful. Phillip stood at the door, hearing her words loud and clear.

Norman pleaded, “Mr. Sherman, Ms. Sherman is genuinely fond of Mr. Quixall. Could you possibly grant her this one wish?”

After a moment of hesitation, Phillip said gravely, “Had it been in the past, I might have given it some thought. However, whether Caleb can wake up now is still uncertain. How can I entrust my daughter to someone like that?”
