Revenge Forged in Prison

Chapter 156: A Plea

Caleb asked calmly, “Why?”

Unable to cope, Zeke had no choice but to involve Chelsea. “This is Ms. Yardley’s directive. If you have any objections, Mr. Jenkins, you’re free to confront her directly.” With that, Zeke left hastily, leaving Caleb with a thoughtful expression.

Without a doubt, Chelsea won’t allow me to be discharged from the hospital. In that case, there is no other choice but to… Caleb picked up the phone on the windowsill, intending to check how much balance he had left. However, as soon as he turned on his phone, a notification popped up, leaving him frozen on the spot.

The notification read: Jesse, the renowned singer, was spotted at the hospital after being brutally assaulted by his elder brother! Subconsciously, he clicked to view, only to find an image of him holding Jesse’s wrist. The picture was thoughtfully accompanied by a caption that read: Jesse visited his brother out of kindness, only to be met with violence. According to a kind-hearted witness, at that moment, Jesse’s brother was gripping his wrist, shouting murder threats, his expression terrifyingly fierce.

In addition to all that, there were also some comments about the relationship between Jesse and his supposed biological brother. They talked about how they were usually at odds with each other, and how the elder brother, after being released from prison, continued to torment his younger brother.

Even though that article contained inaccuracies, some events indeed did occur. For instance, when he peeled shrimp for Jesse, it resulted in Jesse being admitted to the hospital. Another instance was that when he went to visit Jesse, the fruit basket he brought contained cherries, a fruit Jesse couldn’t have.

The most crucial part was the final paragraph of the article, which read: According to Jesse’s family, Mr. Jenkins is not the biological son of the head of the Quixall family. Instead, he was deliberately switched at birth. Upon discovering the truth, Mr. Jenkins was jealous and constantly targeted his younger brother, Jesse. Moreover, he blackmailed Jesse, insisting that he should always refer to him as his biological brother in public and never mention the fact that he was adopted.

The comment section under that article was about to explode, all thanks to Jesse’s popularity. His fans were deeply upset about his predicament, voicing their discontent in droves within the comments.

What kind of person is Mr. Jenkins? It’s one thing to be mistaken for someone else, but why does he insist on being referred to as the biological brother even after the biological son has been found?

Ha! It turns out he’s spent time in prison before. No wonder his mindset is so warped.

Mr. Jenkins, are you doing well? I’m not, though. You got into a car accident, but it’s your own fault. Don’t take your anger out on others.

I think we’re all fervently wishing for Mr. Jenkins to drop dead on the spot!

Second, a new spiteful remark would appear before Caleb’s eyes. Caleb’s breath hitched; the wound he had managed to endure suddenly flared up with excruciating pain, causing sweat to bead on his forehead involuntarily.

Others surely wouldn’t have known so much information. Therefore, the only ones who could have leaked that out must be those from the Quixall family. It could have been Jesse, George, or Deborah. In fact, even the housekeepers could be suspects of spreading false rumors.

In that vast world, it felt as though everyone had turned against Caleb at that moment. It was as if everyone was his enemy, wishing nothing more than for him to drop dead immediately. He had been unafraid when facing Miriam and the Waller brothers, yet the moment he read those malicious comments, he felt he could barely keep himself together.

For a moment, Caleb felt dizzy and utterly exhausted. At that moment, a knock sounded from outside the ward.
