Revenge Forged in Prison

Chapter 241: Death Is Certain

Perry shuddered, immediately closing his mouth.

Despite appearing extremely gentle in front of Chelsea, Miriam was just as ruthless and intimidating toward others as she had always been.

Miriam took a moment to compose herself, barely managing to suppress her rising anger.

“Perry, you’ve been with me for quite a while now. You know my personality, don’t you?”

Perry lowered his head. “I do. You’ve always been a woman of your word, never changing an order once it’s been given. If anyone dared to defy you, even by half a sentence, you would personally deal with them, restoring peace and order.”

Miriam looked down at him condescendingly. “In that case, you’re aware of your inevitable fate, right?”

With difficulty, Perry said, “I—I do…”

Even before Miriam uttered a word, a bodyguard by her side had already aimed his gun at Perry’s head, merely waiting for Miriam’s command to pull the trigger.

Overwhelmed by despair, Perry could do nothing but close his eyes, awaiting the inevitable arrival of death. I’ve toiled tirelessly for the Yardley family for at least twenty years. Who would’ve expected that I would meet such an end? Had I known it would come to this, I would’ve never set foot in the Yardley residence in the first place…

Just as the situation was reaching a critical point, Miriam suddenly said, “Forget it. Let him go.”

The gun was then withdrawn from Perry’s temple, returning to its owner’s waist.

The crisis was suddenly averted. Perry stood still, rooted to the spot, almost believing he was in a dream.

Casually, Miriam said, “Considering the many years we’ve known each other, I’ll let this slide for now.”

It was then that the reality of the situation truly hit Perry. His knees buckled under the weight of it all, and he collapsed onto the ground. Ignoring the weakness in his limbs, he trembled as he knelt on the ground.

“Thank you, Madam Yardley, for sparing my life!”

His head thudded against the floor with a sound that was painfully jarring.

Miriam warned, “I’m letting you off this time, but if there’s a next time, death is certain.”

Perry repeatedly assured, repeatedly promising that he wouldn’t dare to speak ill of Chelsea again. Only then did Miriam let him off.

Once he returned to his own room and closed the door, Perry finally felt at ease. He allowed himself to take deep, gasping breaths, releasing the stress in tandem with the pounding of his heart.

It was because Miriam was too intimidating. Having worked at the Yardley family for so many years, he thought himself somewhat different from…

Yet, reality had mercilessly slapped him in the face.

He had merely spoken a few truths, yet Miriam flew into a rage, even going so far as to order someone to kill him. If not for her sudden softening of heart at the critical moment, his life would have likely ended there that day.

A flicker passed through his eyes as he remembered the incident he had witnessed in the past. He decided it was best to keep the matter to himself to avoid inviting trouble.

Chapter 242: The Truth

When Chelsea returned to her room, she found Casey tightly bound up. Someone had replaced her blood-stained clothes, and she was then dressed in a clean housekeeper’s uniform. Paired with that gentle face of hers, she really looked the part.

Chelsea didn’t untie her. Instead, she sat on the bed, gazing at her with a hint of indifference.

“Am I not the one who saved you? Don’t you plan on expressing some gratitude?” Chelsea asked.

With her eyes filled with resentment, Casey glared at Chelsea and responded, “Ugh! You’re in cahoots with Caleb! He left me in this state, and you’re no better!”

Chelsea wiped her face with a look of disgust, ensuring there was no saliva on her. Only then did she feel at ease.

“Don’t be ungrateful. Do you even realize that it was Caleb who saved you?”
