Chapter 1166: Drug Scandal
"What's wrong?" Theodore asked.
Little Bunny remained silent, her mind consumed by Addison. She couldn't believe he'd be involved in something like this. If he was guilty, someone must have framed him. His current popularity made him a target for jealous rivals seeking to smear his reputation.
"Little Bunny!" Theodore's voice, though controlled, held a note of impatience.
She snapped out of her reverie and turned to him.
"What happened?" Theodore's frustration was palpable. What could have reduced her to this state?
She considered asking Theodore for help, then recoiled at the thought. He wouldn't assist Addison; he might even see it as deserved punishment.
Hesitantly, she said, "Nothing. My agent just told me to prepare for work tomorrow."
"Are you sure that's all?" Theodore's skepticism was evident.
"Yeah," Little Bunny replied, turning away to stare out the window, her distress apparent. All she could think about was Addison's predicament.
Theodore sensed her withdrawal and suppressed his anger. He remembered his earlier reluctance to return home, knowing her demeanor would change from the carefree spirit she was on the island. This coldness was unusual. He glanced at his phone, where news notifications about Addisonโs incident flooded the screen. Now, he understood her distress.
He gripped his phone, taking a deep breath to regain composure. "Addison's in trouble?" he asked, his voice remarkably calm.
Little Bunny hesitated. "Umโฆ"
"Drug use?" Theodore's tone held a hint of sarcasm.
"That's not something he would do," Little Bunny insisted. "I've never seen him use drugs."
Theodore sneered. Little Bunny didn't elaborate.
"I'm tired. I'll sleep," she said, clearly wanting to end the conversation.
Theodore's anger simmered beneath the surface. How could she care so much about Addison? Previously, he'd assumed she wouldn't care if he was in trouble.
The car ride was silent until they reached Theodore's home. Little Bunny went straight to her room, citing work and the need for rest before closing the door.
Theodore watched the closing door, seething. He knew she wouldn't ask for his help. His fury ignited a phone call: "Find out more about Addison's drug use and the potential consequences."
"Yes, Captain."
Theodore hung up, feeling foolish. He should have let Addison face the music.
In her room, Little Bunny lay awake, plagued by thoughts of Addison. This scandal could ruin his career. It wasn't just her feelings; anyone deserved better.
Her phone rangโAddison's agent. They had exchanged numbers due to their recent collaborative work on a TV series and film.
"Hello?"
"Miss Little Bunny? This is Yuna Kim from Addison's agency."
"I know who you are, Miss Kim."
"Addison's been arrested for drug use."
"Yes, I heard it on the news."
"He was set up," Yuna said, frustrated and weary. "He's been stressed and drinking with friends. Someone injected him while he was intoxicated. The police found drugs in his system, but it's a misunderstanding!"
"Do you know who did this?" Little Bunny asked.
"No. The police are unconvinced, and the bar's surveillance footage is broken. If this sticks, his career, his lifeโฆ it's ruined! He's hardworking. It's unfair!" Yuna's voice choked with emotion.
"I need your help," Yuna continued.
Little Bunny felt helpless. "Even if I say I believe him, there's evidence against him."
"Can you ask Mr. Wold for assistance?" Yuna asked directly.
Little Bunny was silent.
"I know about your relationship with Addison," Yuna said softly. "He told me everything. He confessed his feelings, despite company pressure, to pursue you. But then you broke up. Perhaps if that hadn't happenedโฆ"
Little Bunny felt a pang of guilt, imagining Addison's pain.
