Chapter 346: Aurora
I watched the CCTV footage on my phone. As soon as I noticed noisy Alina had left, I shook my head and showed it to Evander. He sighed, relaxing in his chair and pushing papers away. โUghโฆ I have a headache from looking at all these papers because of her.โ
I chuckled. โAre you complaining about a few minutes?โ I slammed my hand on my forehead, shaking my head. โIโve been working on these daily since Dane got unwell.โ
Evander took a deep breath, leaning forward. โI came here to rest. Iโve done too much work back home, Aurora.โ
I pinched his chin, about to taunt him, but decided against it. I knew Evander single-handedly handled the business back home and how hectic it must have been.
โFine,โ I said, rolling my eyes. โIโll have some mercy on you.โ
โMay the goddess bless you, dear sister,โ Evander said, clasping his hands together and raising them before his bowed head.
I clicked my tongue, arranging my desk. โWhy have you called me here, Aurora?โ Evander asked.
I nodded. โIt has to do with Alina.โ
โI guessed, with the way she was snooping. Is it about her sudden reappearance and claims?โ
I nodded. โWe need to help Piper and Warrick. They canโt outsmart Alina alone. They came here for my help, and I canโt do it without assistance.โ
Evander shook his head. โAnd you think Iโm smart enough to outsmart that cunning girl?โ
โIโm here to help you. Together, she doesnโt stand a chance.โ
โFineโฆ what needs to be done?โ
โWe need to talk to Milesโฆโ
โThe young boy at the pack doctorโs place?โ
I nodded. โBut we canโt just go and talk to him. Alinaโs eyes are everywhere, but we have some leverage; according to her, weโre not enemies.โ
Evander sighed. โSo how do you want us to talk to him?โ
โIโll go to the pack doctorโs place this evening to get medicine for Tristan, then Iโll speak with Miles.โ
โThatโs good. Should I come with you?โ
โNo. I donโt want her seeing us together; sheโd be suspicious.โ
I got up and went to where he sat. I tapped his back. โIโll get going now. Stay here until I return, okay?โ
He nodded, and I walked out of the office. I left the pack house and caught the eyes of Rowan and Lily. Immediately they saw me, they approached. Rowan bowed slightly. โGood evening, Luna.โ
โGood evening, Rowanโฆโ I replied, continuing to walk and quickly looking around to ensure Alina wasnโt nearby.
Rowan walked with me. โLunaโฆ I heard the news about Alinaโs pregnancy.โ
I sighed. โWhat else did you hear?โ
โI heard she said Warrick is the father.โ
โOkay,โ I said, continuing to walk.
โOkay? Is that all? You do know Alinaโs lying, right?โ
I shrugged. โRowanโฆ I donโt care about all of that. I have my own problems; my kids are here. I just want to focus on my family and some important issues for now.โ
Rowanโs jaw dropped as she stared at me in shock. He swallowed. โOkay, Lunaโฆโ
I nodded. โWarrick created this mess; let him clean it up.โ I paused, standing before him. โWeโre having a get-together party soon to welcome back everyone who left and returned, including Alina.โ
Rowan nodded. I continued, โShare the news. Iโll get preparations ready soon. Now, if you donโt mind, I have to get some medicine for my son.โ
I walked away from Rowan, my heart squeezing. I knew Iโd hurt the poor boy by disregarding him, but what could I do? I didnโt know who Alinaโs eyes and ears were in the pack.
I walked out of the pack gate, and before I could take another step, Trajan raced up to me. โWhere are you going without any guards, Aurora?โ
I looked at Trajan, wondering if I should tell him my plans. I trusted him, but I also knew he might not be able to outsmart Alina. That girl is too cunning. I didnโt need many people involvedโjust me, Evander, and probably Miles for the underground work.
โErmmโฆ everyone was busy, so I thought not to disturbโฆโ
โDisturb?โ
I nodded.
โWhat do you pay them for then, if it wasnโt to guard you?โ Trajan asked, raising an eyebrow.
Why is he still following me? I have to find a way to send him back; I canโt talk to Miles with him there.
I breathed and came to a halt; he stopped too, right in front of me. โTrajanโฆ I want you to go to my office. Thereโs a contract file I want you to take to the border and give to Raven. He should take it to our business partners.โ
Trajanโs eyes dropped. โNow?โ he asked.
โYes!โ I replied firmly. โNow.โ
Trajan grunted, scratching the back of his head before walking back toward the pack house.
I walked down the busy path and reached the pack doctorโs place in a few minutes. As I entered, I looked for Miles, but couldnโt see him.
Where is he?
I paced the corridor, waiting for him. He was meant to be outside as a guard, so if heโd gone out, heโd be back soon.
I sighed, turning and bumping into someone.
โWhy are you here?โ
I looked up to see Dane. My eyes widened in shock. What do I tell him? I canโt lie that I was here for Tristanโs medicine; he knew Tristan was well.
โWell?โ I started, scratching the back of my neck. โI havenโt been feeling well, so Iโve come for a pregnancy test.โ
