Chapter 346: Aurora

I watched the CCTV footage on my phone. As soon as I noticed noisy Alina had left, I shook my head and showed it to Evander. He sighed, relaxing in his chair and pushing papers away. โ€œUghโ€ฆ I have a headache from looking at all these papers because of her.โ€

I chuckled. โ€œAre you complaining about a few minutes?โ€ I slammed my hand on my forehead, shaking my head. โ€œIโ€™ve been working on these daily since Dane got unwell.โ€

Evander took a deep breath, leaning forward. โ€œI came here to rest. Iโ€™ve done too much work back home, Aurora.โ€

I pinched his chin, about to taunt him, but decided against it. I knew Evander single-handedly handled the business back home and how hectic it must have been.

โ€œFine,โ€ I said, rolling my eyes. โ€œIโ€™ll have some mercy on you.โ€

โ€œMay the goddess bless you, dear sister,โ€ Evander said, clasping his hands together and raising them before his bowed head.

I clicked my tongue, arranging my desk. โ€œWhy have you called me here, Aurora?โ€ Evander asked.

I nodded. โ€œIt has to do with Alina.โ€

โ€œI guessed, with the way she was snooping. Is it about her sudden reappearance and claims?โ€

I nodded. โ€œWe need to help Piper and Warrick. They canโ€™t outsmart Alina alone. They came here for my help, and I canโ€™t do it without assistance.โ€

Evander shook his head. โ€œAnd you think Iโ€™m smart enough to outsmart that cunning girl?โ€

โ€œIโ€™m here to help you. Together, she doesnโ€™t stand a chance.โ€

โ€œFineโ€ฆ what needs to be done?โ€

โ€œWe need to talk to Milesโ€ฆโ€

โ€œThe young boy at the pack doctorโ€™s place?โ€

I nodded. โ€œBut we canโ€™t just go and talk to him. Alinaโ€™s eyes are everywhere, but we have some leverage; according to her, weโ€™re not enemies.โ€

Evander sighed. โ€œSo how do you want us to talk to him?โ€

โ€œIโ€™ll go to the pack doctorโ€™s place this evening to get medicine for Tristan, then Iโ€™ll speak with Miles.โ€

โ€œThatโ€™s good. Should I come with you?โ€

โ€œNo. I donโ€™t want her seeing us together; sheโ€™d be suspicious.โ€

I got up and went to where he sat. I tapped his back. โ€œIโ€™ll get going now. Stay here until I return, okay?โ€

He nodded, and I walked out of the office. I left the pack house and caught the eyes of Rowan and Lily. Immediately they saw me, they approached. Rowan bowed slightly. โ€œGood evening, Luna.โ€

โ€œGood evening, Rowanโ€ฆโ€ I replied, continuing to walk and quickly looking around to ensure Alina wasnโ€™t nearby.

Rowan walked with me. โ€œLunaโ€ฆ I heard the news about Alinaโ€™s pregnancy.โ€

I sighed. โ€œWhat else did you hear?โ€

โ€œI heard she said Warrick is the father.โ€

โ€œOkay,โ€ I said, continuing to walk.

โ€œOkay? Is that all? You do know Alinaโ€™s lying, right?โ€

I shrugged. โ€œRowanโ€ฆ I donโ€™t care about all of that. I have my own problems; my kids are here. I just want to focus on my family and some important issues for now.โ€

Rowanโ€™s jaw dropped as she stared at me in shock. He swallowed. โ€œOkay, Lunaโ€ฆโ€

I nodded. โ€œWarrick created this mess; let him clean it up.โ€ I paused, standing before him. โ€œWeโ€™re having a get-together party soon to welcome back everyone who left and returned, including Alina.โ€

Rowan nodded. I continued, โ€œShare the news. Iโ€™ll get preparations ready soon. Now, if you donโ€™t mind, I have to get some medicine for my son.โ€

I walked away from Rowan, my heart squeezing. I knew Iโ€™d hurt the poor boy by disregarding him, but what could I do? I didnโ€™t know who Alinaโ€™s eyes and ears were in the pack.

I walked out of the pack gate, and before I could take another step, Trajan raced up to me. โ€œWhere are you going without any guards, Aurora?โ€

I looked at Trajan, wondering if I should tell him my plans. I trusted him, but I also knew he might not be able to outsmart Alina. That girl is too cunning. I didnโ€™t need many people involvedโ€”just me, Evander, and probably Miles for the underground work.

โ€œErmmโ€ฆ everyone was busy, so I thought not to disturbโ€ฆโ€

โ€œDisturb?โ€

I nodded.

โ€œWhat do you pay them for then, if it wasnโ€™t to guard you?โ€ Trajan asked, raising an eyebrow.

Why is he still following me? I have to find a way to send him back; I canโ€™t talk to Miles with him there.

I breathed and came to a halt; he stopped too, right in front of me. โ€œTrajanโ€ฆ I want you to go to my office. Thereโ€™s a contract file I want you to take to the border and give to Raven. He should take it to our business partners.โ€

Trajanโ€™s eyes dropped. โ€œNow?โ€ he asked.

โ€œYes!โ€ I replied firmly. โ€œNow.โ€

Trajan grunted, scratching the back of his head before walking back toward the pack house.

I walked down the busy path and reached the pack doctorโ€™s place in a few minutes. As I entered, I looked for Miles, but couldnโ€™t see him.

Where is he?

I paced the corridor, waiting for him. He was meant to be outside as a guard, so if heโ€™d gone out, heโ€™d be back soon.

I sighed, turning and bumping into someone.

โ€œWhy are you here?โ€

I looked up to see Dane. My eyes widened in shock. What do I tell him? I canโ€™t lie that I was here for Tristanโ€™s medicine; he knew Tristan was well.

โ€œWell?โ€ I started, scratching the back of my neck. โ€œI havenโ€™t been feeling well, so Iโ€™ve come for a pregnancy test.โ€
