Chapter 433 Procrastination
Dalton lay dejectedly on the hospital bed.
He understood that Chandlerโs decision was a warning. After all, without the support of the Aniston family, he was nothing.
He realized that Chandler was taking revenge for the half-month he had kidnapped Meryl, wanting him to pay the price.
โChandler, youโre kicking me out of the family business and out of the family. With such ruthlessness, do you think Meryl will be scared of you?โ
Chandler was the head of the Aniston family, and in that family, the head held absolute authority. Even Dylan couldnโt stop his decisions.
Moreover, colluding with outsiders to harm family members was undeniably Daltonโs fault.
As long as Chandler insisted on making Dalton choose between going abroad and being expelled from the family, Dalton had no choice but to comply; no one could plead for him.
But Meryl was different.
Dalton believed that Chandler genuinely cared about Meryl, so he wouldnโt disregard his image in her eyes.
Chandler thought that expelling his own nephew seemed excessively cruel.
Before he could speak, Meryl walked in from outside.
โChandler is the head, so itโs his duty to deal with family members who make mistakes. Only by handling this fairly can the Aniston family maintain order, right?โ
As she spoke, Meryl gently took Chandlerโs hand. This was clearly her way of publicly aligning herself with him.
โYou all wouldnโt understand the difficulties Chandler faces as head of the family. He certainly wants harmony among us.
โBut when someone makes a mistake, they must accept punishment. How can you blame Chandler for being cold-hearted when you donโt hold the wrongdoer accountable? Doesnโt that seem unreasonable?โ
Once she finished, everyone in the room fell silent. Merylโs words left no room for anyone to plead for Dalton.
Dalton moved his lips. Seeing Meryl and Chandler holding hands made his eyes water.
He hadnโt expected that not only Chandler but even Meryl wanted him to face such horrible consequences.
He realized she truly didnโt care about him and was eager to distance herself.
Dalton felt a sharp pain in his heart.
They had spent half a month together, and he had prepared every meal for her.
Dalton had thought Meryl would be touched and give him a chance to start anew. He never imagined that she was merely playing a part.
He recognized that her earlier kindness had only been a facade to lower his defenses.
Suddenly, Dalton felt ridiculous.
His emotions were a jumbled mess, and he felt hopeless about life.
Morton said, โOnce Dalton recovers, Iโll arrange for him to go abroad! Chandler, are you satisfied now?โ
Choosing to go abroad was a rational decision compared to being disowned by the Aniston family.
Lydia sobbed, โBut Iโm pregnant. What will I do if Dalton goes abroad?โ
โChandler, could you show some mercy and let Dalton go after I give birth? Iโm begging you.โ
Tears streamed down Lydiaโs face as she spoke. She cried so hard that it seemed she would continue as long as Chandler didnโt agree.
Charlotte thought for a moment. She figured that by the time Lydia gave birth, six months would have passed. Maybe then, Daltonโs departure would become a moot point.
โCharlotte, if Dalton really leaves me, Iโll cry every day!โ
Only Lydiaโs cries echoed in the room. Dylan, irritated by the noise, said, โThen let it be until the baby is born!โ
