Chapter 434: Lydia Knew the Truth

Chandlerโ€™s expression darkened, clearly unwilling to agree.

He could tell that everyone was stalling for time.

But Dylan was insistent. โ€œThis matter is settled!โ€

Meryl gently tugged at Chandlerโ€™s sleeve, reminding him to give others a chance. After all, if they pushed everyone into a corner, anything could happen.

Chandler chose not to push back any further.

He understood that no matter how much they stalled, Dalton would ultimately be sent abroad. If he made any further moves during this time, it would only hasten Daltonโ€™s departure.

Chandler glanced at Dalton and his parents, his tone laced with warning.

โ€œMorton, Charlotte, youโ€™d better keep an eye on Dalton. If he acts up again, it might be more than just going abroad. I think youโ€™re aware of what Iโ€™ve been doing for over a decade.โ€

Chandlerโ€™s meaning was clear.

Back in the police academy, he had to complete various tasks every day. He excelled at catching the bad guys.

Most of the criminals he dealt with ended up in custody, and the police station was filled with his comrades and acquaintances.

His words effectively conveyed that if Dalton crossed the line again, he would see to it that he ended up in a police cell with no room for leniency.

Others might not grasp what Chandler meant, but Morton and Charlotte understood completely.

He was warning them to keep Dalton in check and to abandon any inappropriate thoughts about Meryl.

Morton opened his mouth but ultimately said nothing.

Once they left, only Mortonโ€™s family remained in the hospital room.

After Charlotte closed the door, she asked bluntly, โ€œDalton, did you really kidnap Meryl?โ€

Dalton pressed his lips together in silence. Seeing his reaction, Charlotte quickly realized the truth.

โ€œWhat were you thinking? Why would you provoke Chandler? Your dad has suffered so much this past year because he tried to sabotage Chandler in the company. Why would you want to make him your rival? Do you think heโ€™ll let you off easy?โ€

Dalton didnโ€™t want to argue with Charlotte. He felt it was pointless.

Morton then said, โ€œDalton, you need to use these six months wisely to develop your career here. Once your company stabilizes, no one will be able to force you out!โ€

Lydia was oblivious to everything. Hearing that Dalton had kidnapped Meryl and had spent the past half month in a villa with her made her furious!

As soon as Morton and Charlotte left, Lydia immediately confronted him. โ€œDalton, do you even care about me? What have you and Meryl been doing in the villa? Did you sleep together?โ€

She thought to herself, โ€œNo wonder Chandler was so furious he wanted to kick him out of the Aniston family. What Dalton did was truly outrageous!โ€

The thought of her man fooling around with another woman while she was pregnant made Lydia feel ridiculous for having pleaded for Dalton.

Everyone seemed to know about it except her!

โ€œDalton, Iโ€™ve done so much for you. How could you treat me like this?โ€

Only then did Dalton show some reaction.

He turned his head, looking at her with mockery. โ€œHow have I treated you?โ€

โ€œHow could you be with Meryl? You, you twoโ€ฆโ€

Before she could finish, tears streamed down Lydiaโ€™s face.

Suddenly, she remembered when Dalton had come to her, pressuring her to sign the divorce papers, and it dawned on her what had happened.

She thought, โ€œIf I had signed back then, would Dalton have eloped with Meryl by now?โ€
