Chapter 83: No Option

He was usually gentle, but tonight he couldn't help getting angry with her, blaming everything on her. Before Erica could react, Kai coldly picked up their son and left the villa. It was already eleven o'clock, and the driver hadn't expected Kai to emerge from Erica's room. Kai had been staying there for twenty days that month, but tonight he left angrily without explanation.

Sitting in the car, the driver nervously glanced at his boss. "Sir, where are we going?"

"To Poppy's place."

"Okay."

The luxury car sped away, the sound of a crying child fading into the distance. Erica stood at the window, watching the car disappear. She couldn't believe it—he had actually left her.

Iker's Estate

Iker was about to sleep when he heard a loud noise outside.

"Tanner, what's going on?"

Hearing Iker, Tanner hurried upstairs and stood at Iker's door.

"Master Kai has arrived."

Kai? What was he doing here?

A mocking smirk appeared on Iker's handsome face. "This guy has some nerve—showing up in the middle of the night instead of staying with his woman."

Tanner looked down; how could he know that?

Moments later, Kai appeared in black pajamas, carrying a child, and approached Iker. The child immediately caught Iker's attention. It must be his youngest brother, whom he'd only seen twice before—once at his full-moon banquet.

The little boy hugged his father tightly, tears welling as he looked at Iker. In a timid voice, he called out, "Brother."

Iker narrowed his eyes; disgust was evident on his face.

"What are you doing here?" he asked Kai.

Kai looked embarrassed and coughed. "I was going to my aunt's, but she's out with friends. And I didn't want to go to Thalia's; she's fiery, and she'd question me about bringing a child."

He had no choice but to come here.

"As head of the Todd family, you can't find somewhere else to stay? Don't be ridiculous. I like peace and quiet," Iker said, pointedly glancing at the boy.

Kai replied, "Don't worry. We won't disturb you."

Kai carried the child upstairs. The little boy kept looking at Iker, softly saying, "Brother, I won't cry. I'm very quiet"

"Tanner, take them upstairs. If there's any noise while I'm sleeping, drive them away!" Iker ordered coldly. He wheeled himself back to his bedroom.

Kai breathed a sigh of relief and followed Tanner upstairs. Tanner led him to a cold, empty room.

"Is there any other option?" Kai asked.

Tanner nervously scratched his head. "Master Kai, there are only three rooms: yours, one Miss Lawrence used (but is now off-limits), and this temporary room."

Kai's face darkened. Iker had plenty of money, but why was his place so shabby? Oh well, it was only for one night.

"Oh, yeah," Kai remembered. "Find me a family doctor. Lewis has a cold."

"Sure thing."

Meanwhile, Iker, still awake, heard footsteps outside his door. Who would need a doctor at this hour?

Soon, Tanner returned; the little brat was sick. Cheyenne had to stay in the hospital for two days. Layne visited Iker during that time. Upon hearing Cheyenne was still hospitalized, Kai felt ashamed and sent many gifts to the hospital.
