Chapter 94
After Rowan pulled up the surveillance footage, he displayed it for everyone to see. The instant the crowd caught Zander’s odd smirk, the shock in the room escalated to a whole new level. The truth was now undeniable.
Zander panicked and tried to make a run for it upon seeing the footage, but Adrian caught him by the collar. The men who had originally brought Zander in were nowhere to be seen.
“Zander… Why would you take such a huge risk eating seafood?” Even Betsy, who had been so arrogant just moments ago, now looked at Zander with confusion.
Zander stammered, unable to form a single coherent sentence. “I–I…”
“Who ordered you to do this?” Adrian’s brow furrowed slightly as his grip on Zander’s collar remained unyielding.
“I’m asking you one last time. Who told you to do this?”
A surge of coldness flashed in Adrian’s eyes, and the air around him seemed to grow even heavier. Celeste’s gaze fell on Adrian’s expression. It was the first time she’d seen such a terrifying presence in him. He seemed truly enraged.
Celeste also stiffened her expression, lifting her gaze to Zander. “This incident not only tarnishes the reputation of my clinic, but it could also reflect poorly on the professionalism of our doctors. If you tell me the truth now, I’ll let it go and won’t press charges. Otherwise, I’ll call the police.”
“No one ordered me!” Zander insisted. “Call the police if you want!”
Adrian’s lips curled into a cold, mocking smile. “You should’ve taken the soft option while it was on the table.”
Just then, Joshua, who had just dropped Eloise off at school, arrived at the scene. He walked over, lowering his voice to address Adrian. “Mr. Wrenford.”
Adrian lifted his gaze, his eyes locking onto Joshua. “Joshua, clear the room. I need to have a private word with him.”
“Understood.”
Upon receiving the order, Joshua quickly began clearing the crowd. The elderly onlookers were forcefully escorted out, and even Zander’s mother, along with Matilda and the others, were all ushered out.
Chapter 2/2
Now, only Celeste’s closest people remained in the clinic. Zander was tall and imposing, but the moment Adrian stood next to him, all of his arrogance seemed to dissipate.
“You’re stirring up trouble when the clinic has just opened, and you’re claiming no one sent you?” Adrian grabbed Zander by the head and forcefully jerked his hair back. “Do you expect me to believe you?”
This was the first time Celeste had witnessed Adrian physically confronting someone. The aura around him was even more terrifying than usual. He was usually calm and detached, but now he seemed like a predator stalking in the shadows of the night. His aggression was palpable and overwhelming.
“No one ordered me!” Zander shook his head frantically, his voice dropping to a near whisper.
Rowan was visibly annoyed. “Then, can you explain why you were laughing?” He moved the laptop in front of Zander and pointed to the screen, his eyes narrowing with growing coldness.
“1…” However, Zander still refused to speak the truth.
“Celeste has never even met you. What kind of grudge do you have against her that would make you resort to such tactics?” Annie snapped, her anger reaching a boiling point. “Her acupuncture skills are among the best in Longdale, yet you dare to question her publicly?”
Zander remained silent, refusing to reveal anything.
Adrian suddenly released his hold on Zander and turned to look at Joshua. “Joshua, what do you think we should do if he refuses to tell the truth?”
